Suggested Extensions
For a contrast to the steamy rainforest why not opt for a couple of nights in Costa Rica’s cool and misty Cloud Forest. This unique ecosystem is home to incredible flora and fauna, butterflies and birdlife including the elusive quetzal!
Best Time to Travel
December-April is the dry season, however if you are prepared for some rain, don’t discount July-August when there is a short period of reprieve from the heavy rains but do bear in mind the weather is much more unpredictable.
Tips for Families
Manuel Antonio National Park is easy to explore on your own but a private guide will increase your chances of wildlife sightings. Start early when the park is quiet or wait until dark, grab your torch and set off on a night hike in search of creepy crawlies!

Itinerary
Day 1 | Fly to San Jose, Costa Rica
Fly from London to San Jose via the USA or Madrid and transfer to your city hotel.
Day 2 | Transfer to Tortuguero
An early start this morning as you leave San Jose for Tortuguero stopping en route for a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. Wildlife-spotting begins as you transfer by boat to your chosen jungle lodge and enjoy a late lunch.
Transfer time to Tortuguero approx. 5 hours by road and boat.
Days 3-4 | Tortuguero
Explore Tortuguero’s maze of canals, wetlands and verdant forest with a guided boat tour, enjoy a visit to the Green Turtle Museum and picturesque town of Tortuquero. Depending on when you visit you may also be able to view turtles laying their eggs on the wild beaches.
Day 5 | Transfer to Arenal
Transfer to Arenal, home to the impressive volcano of the same name and one of Costa Rica’s adventure activity hot spots.
Transfer time to Arenal approx. 4 hours
Days 6-7 | Arenal
With 2 full days in Arenal you have plenty of time to enjoy thrilling adventures both on land and on water against the backdrop of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Don’t forget to find time to relax with a soak in the thermal hot springs!
Day 8 | Transfer to Manuel Antonio
Transfer to the Central Pacific coast and Manuel Antonio with its stunning jungle meets beach setting. Or head north to the Guanacaste province one of Costa Rica’s driest regions and home to luxurious resorts like the Andaz and Four Seasons.
Transfer time to Manuel Antonio approx. 4.5 hours.
Days 9-10 | Manuel Antonio
Explore the coastal rainforest keeping your eyes peeled for sleepy sloths and playful troops of monkeys. There are also beautiful white-sand beaches and plenty of adventure activities for the more active.
Day 11 | Fly back to the UK
Transfer back to San Jose to meet your overnight connecting flight back to London.
Transfer time to San Jose approx. 3 hours.
