Manatus Hotel

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Tortuguero National Park, the Manatus Hotel offers elegant accommodation, quality Caribbean cuisine and a wide range of activities, from boat trips along neighbouring canals to night-time turtle nesting tours.

The lush jungle setting is serene and remote, yet the hotel doesn’t compromise on comfort (this is the only jungle lodge in Tortuguero with air conditioning). Families will enjoy kayaking along tranquil waterways, strolling through landscaped gardens, exploring the national park or simply cooling off in the pool beneath swaying palm trees.

Facilities & Activities

With its location beside the Tortuguero canal and the Caribbean sea, many of the hotel’s activities are water-based. Boat tours along the canal provide opportunities to spot crocodiles, while adventure-seekers will enjoy kayak trips along the colourful waterways. Sport fishing trips can also be arranged. The half-day or full-day tours see you catch and release everything from tarpon to bass in the river or the sea.

Other activities the hotel offers include visits to Tortuguero Village to dive deeper into Afro-Carinnean culture, as well as zip-lining and bird-watching tours. When twilight descends, guided night walks allow you to experience the nocturnal sounds of the forest safely. You could also join a night turtle nesting tour, watching these magnificent creatures lay their eggs and cover them carefully before returning to the sea.

Hotel facilities include an outdoor pool overlooking the canal, a small gym, a computer room and high-speed WiFi.
