Dining

The hotel has 3 restaurants, each with its own distinct style. You needn’t go anywhere else to satisfy your appetite, but eating in can be expensive, so expect American resort prices.

The open-air Río Bhongo serves Latin food all day, including an enormous breakfast buffet that features a coffee bar and omelette station. The menu includes dishes ranging from “porkito” (pork burgers) to quesadillas and stuffed aubergine. Chao Pescao is a relaxed, small plates bar with open terraces overlooking the sea. It serves craft beer and innovative cocktails, and small bites include cold meats and bruschetta. Open for dinner, Ostra is the most upmarket restaurant, serving excellent seafood, such as tuna ceviche and jumbo scallops.

Andaz Beach House offers beachfront dining on Nacascolo beach, 15 minutes from the resort. Light bites, tropical drinks, beach activities and a local Tico vibe await your discovery.

Rooms

The 132 rooms are divided into 4 categories – Standard, Forest View, Partial Bay View and Bay View. Even the Standard rooms are generously proportioned and can accommodate a family of 4.  There are also 21 Suites which boast a living room and spacious balcony.

All rooms and suites feature smart lights and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Culebra Bay and or the surrounding forest. Bathrooms have large, rainfall showers that open onto the balcony.

Family

There’s plenty on offer for families, including a stellar kids’ club (Cambi Kids Club) for children aged 4-12 years (a charge applies). Parents can relax knowing their young ones are being supervised by professional staff from 8am until 5pm, who keep them entertained with activities from nature walks to snorkelling, Spanish class to arts and crafts. Younger children can use the kids club but must be accompanied by an adult. There is also Camp Jaguar aimed at teens.

For larger families or teens who seek their own space, the hotel has interconnecting rooms and suites.

Sustainability

In recent years, Andaz Costa Rica Resort has successfully implemented numerous eco-friendly initiatives prioritizing water and energy conservation along with the elimination of plastic water bottles. The hotel has created their own water-purifying plant and there are now ‘hydration stations’ throughout the resort where guests can refill their reusable bottle or the glass bottles the hotel provides. A resort-wide tree-planting program invites guests and staff to volunteer together and further enrich the peninsula.

Location

Set on Costa Rica’s Northern Pacific coast, the Papagayo Peninsula is a lush headland packed with nature and fringed by pristine beaches. The grand entrance opens onto a fabulous arch framing the Pacific, and the hotel shares a secluded beach with its neighbour, the Four Seasons.

Liberia Airport is only a half-hour drive away, and the hotel offers an airport shuttle service (available on request) while San Jose’s main international airport is approx. 4-hour drive on the main Route 1.
