Arenal Springs Resort

With its superb views, thermal pools and warm, welcoming service, Arenal Springs Resort & Spa offers good mid-range lodging in the heart of Costa Rica’s adventure capital, Arenal.

The well-appointed rooms are spread throughout spacious grounds all facing the iconic Arenal Volcano. Guests can make use of the plentiful onsite facilities but to properly explore all that Arenal has to offer we recommend trying the activities and tours – perfect for releasing your inner adventurer.

Facilities & Activities

As its name suggests, the resort’s prized facility are its hot springs. Four pools, heated to different temperatures cascade through tropical gardens. Their mineral-rich water – naturally heated by the Arenal Volcano and its underground rivers – is said to moisturise and refresh skin. The springs are open daily from 8am to 10pm and guests have complimentary use of towels and lockers. There is a swim-up bar serving sushi and drinks, so you can wallow in warm water with a bite to eat.

There are also 3 freshwater pools – including some with children’s areas – and a lovely open-air yoga deck which offers complimentary classes, Monday to Saturday at 6:30am. There is also a small gym, spa and souvenir shop selling everything from sunscreen to bird guidebooks, as well as a vegetable garden.

Choose from 3 restaurants, each with its own distinct style. Named after the Maleku Indian word for River or Spring, Tai-Cain is the main restaurant, serving traditional Costa Rican fare, such as Gallo Pinto, fried plantains and Carne en Salsa (Shredded beef), as well as American favourites like pancakes, waffles, and hash browns. The daily breakfast buffet is served inside its lovely wooden, open-air interior.

A low-lit Italian Restaurant offers everything from cold meat platters to pizzas oozing with mozzarella, plus wine from Chile and Argentina. For a lazy lunch, try Sakana Sushi Restaurant, which is located in the pool area. A family of 4 can share a Junior Suite Room with 2 queen beds, but those looking for more space should book 2 connecting rooms.
