Due to Summer heat, which doesn’t mix well with sight seeing in the open, the best time to travel is October through to Easter.
Tips for Families
Be prepared for some early mornings to miss the crowds, so plan downtime at home before school if you are not heading to the Red Sea for R&R.

Day 1 | Fly to Cairo
Take your daytime flight to Cairo, a very reasonable 5 hours from London airports and from there transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 | Explore the ancient wonders of the City
Set off after breakfast for your day trip around the City – take in the colossal pyramids of Giza, the mysterious Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum.
Day 3 | Fly to Aswan and afternoon tour
Take a flight from Cairo in the far North to the city of Aswan in the far South, after checking into your hotel take the opportunity to visit the High Dam and the Temple of Philae.
Day 4 | Visit Abu Simbel and join your cruise boat
Head off very early into the desert to visit Abu Simbel, two iconic Temples carved into a rock-face, from there head back to Aswan to join your Cruise Boat and relax. Please note it’s a 3 hour journey each way, but considered a highlight!
Day 5 | Cruise Aswan to Esna via Kom Ombo and Edfu
After you your cruise down to Kom Ombo, visit the temple once shared by the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed god Horus, before sailing on to Edfu to visit the Temple before continuing to Esna for your overnight dock.
Day 6 | Sail to Luxor and Explore
This morning sail into the famous city of Luxor, once known as Thebes. From there visit the Valley of the Kings, where Tutankhamen’s famous Tomb resides, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the colossi of Memnon on the West Bank of the Nile. We recommend visiting Luxor Temple at night in order to see its impressive structures illuminated.
Day 7 | Visit the Temple of Karnak and fly to Cairo
In the morning visit the Temple of Karnak and Luxor Temple in the day light. From here take your flight to Cairo, perhaps visiting the famous souk, Khan el-Khalili, in the later afternoon or evening to collect some memorabilia of your trip!
Day 8 | Fly home
After breakfast set off for the Airport for your flight home.
