Discover the iconic sights of the Cultural Triangle, travel through the rolling tea plantations of the Hill Country before arriving at the tropical palm-fringed beaches of the south coast. With plenty of opportunities for adventure and wildlife encounters along the way, it’s little surprise that this is one of our favourite family holidays.

1 night rest stop on arrival, 3 nights Cultural Triangle, 1 night Kandy, 2 nights Hill Country, 1 night Udawaalwe National Park & 4 nights South Coast beach £3,800 per adult and £3,600 per child under 12 sharing including flights, private driver/guide and accommodation. Board basis varies from Bed & Breakfast to Half Board and All Inclusive.

Suggested Extensions
Perhaps stop off in Galle for a night or two before heading back to the airport? This historic trading port boasts Dutch-colonial architecture and wandering its cobbled lanes brings the opportunity to pick up some souvenirs before heading home.
Best Time to Travel
This itinerary can be enjoyed year-round although the central and southern regions tend to experience the best weather from December to April.
Tips for Families
Schedule activities in the morning or late afternoon avoiding the midday heat when the kids will be happier with a dip in the pool!

Itinerary
DAY 1 | FLY TO COLOMBO, SRI LANKA
Take a daytime flight from London to Colombo (11 hours) and transfer directly to your hotel. Set in a coconut plantation this restored villa is the perfect place to relax and ensure you are well rested for the exciting journey ahead.
Transfer time approx. 1 hour.
DAYS 2-4 | CULTURAL TRIANGLE
3 nights in the renowned Cultural Triangle will give you plenty of time to soak up the sights and explore at your own pace. Climb Sigirya Rock for breath-taking views of the surrounding jungle, cycle amongst the crumbling temples at Polonnaruwa and go wildlife spotting in Minneriya National Park. Transfer time to Cultural Triangle approx. 3 hours.
DAY 5 | KANDY
Next stop is Kandy, famous for the ‘Temple of the Tooth’ and known as the gateway to the Hill Country. It’s worth stopping to view the unique Dambulla cave temples.
Transfer time to Kandy approx. 2.5 hours.
DAYS 6-7 | HILL COUNTRY
Today you climb to higher altitudes as you head into Sri Lanka’s scenic Hill Country where the emerald peaks are carpeted by tea plantations. Enjoy an estate tour and the opportunity to sample some of the wonderful tea.
Transfer time to Hill Country approx. 2.5-3 hours.
DAY 8 | UDAWALAWE
Head south towards the coast stopping en route for a night at Udawalawe National Park for another chance to spot Ellies amongst other wildlife. You can also visit the Transit Home where orphaned baby elephants are rehabilitated before being released back into the wild.
Transfer time to Udawalawe approx. 4 hours.
DAYS 9-12| SOUTH COAST BEACH
Spend your days relaxing on a picture-perfect sandy beach, sip sundowners by the pool or get active and try your hand at surfing.
Transfer time to south coast approx. 1.5-2 hours.
DAY 13| FLY BACK TO THE UK
Transfer to the airport for your overnight flight back to London (11 hours)
Transfer time approx. 3 hours.
