A true African ‘safari’ could not be more authentic than a road trip through Tanzania. The word safari actually means journey! This adventurous 7 night safari focussed holiday takes you through the 4 main parks that make up the Northern Safari sector – Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and finally the world famous Serengeti.

Rates subject to travel dates and hotel selection

Suggested Extensions

If time allows, why not add 5-7 nights on the island of Zanzibar. You are able to fly direct from the Serengeti to Zanzibar, so if you after a bit of sea air, sand and water sports this could add to complete the package!

Best Time to Travel

This itinerary is most popular during the wildebeest and zebra migration which happens annually July to September.

April and May are the rainy months and we would recommend to avoid this time of year.

Tips for Families

This journey is a real journey with fairly long driving distances done by your private driver guide – so would better suite families with teenagers. The region is also malarial and a yellow fever vaccine is required.

Highlights

  • The varying landscapes of Baobabs and swampland in the Tarangire National Park
  • Flamingos (in season) at Lake Manyara
  • Breath-taking scenery and high density wildlife within the Ngorongoro Crater
  • Vast herds of wildebeest & zebra, plus the predators that follow them. The Central Serengeti has both quality and quantity when it comes to game viewing.

Itinerary

Day 1 Fly overnight from Heathrow

Depart Heathrow Airport for your overnight flight to Doha, where you will stay in transit and connect with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport.

There are various flight options available.

Day 2 | Transfer to Arusha

Morning arrival into Kilimanjaro Airport, where you will clear customs and transferred by road – 1 hours drive to your hotel in Arusha.

Day 3 | Drive to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will meet with your private driver guide who will be with you for the duration of your safari.

Drive from Arusha to your lodge within /  near Tarangire National Park – approx 3.5 hours.

Enjoy a short game drive with picnic lunch, before heading to your lodge to check in just before dinner.

Day 4 | Explore Tarangire National Park

You have the option today to spend the full day within Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch, or opt for the morning in the park and then head to Lake Manyara in the afternoon.

Both parks are different and have something unique to offer. Tarangire is great for elephants and is different flora, whilst Lake Manyara is a smaller reserve and has bush pigs, monkeys and plenty of bird species.

After breakfast head to Mto Wa Bu Village for a guided tour and local lunch before heading to Karatu which is the town that sits just outside the Ngorongoro Crater and is home to many coffee plantations.

Day 6 | Day in the Ngorongoro Crater

Early morning start today as you descend into the Ngorogoro Crater for a full days safari with picnic lunch.

The Crater is the only reserve you are able to find Black Rhino in Tanzania. The quality of game viewing in this region is phenomenal due to the high density of animals in a relatively small reserve. The diameter of the Crater is approx 20km wide.

Spend the next 2 days driving the dusty roads of the Serengeti – whether it be a lazy hippo in the Grumeti River or a pride of lions feeding on a zebra the game sightings in the Serengeti seem to all take your breath away!

Day 10 | Fly from Serengeti via Kilimanjaro and home to the UK

Say farewell today as you road transfer to the Serengeti Airstrip for your flight to Arusha Airport. You will be collected from Arusha, enjoy a light lunch before being transferred back to Kilimanjaro Airport , where you will connect with your flight home to the UK via Nairobi / Doha.

In our Client's Words...

We spent 7 nights on safari - fantastic guide, wonderful wildlife, people and jaw dropping scenery staying in 4 different Lodges - all thought out carefully. We then spent 6 nights on Zanzibar to relax. All in all we had a great holiday and Bushbaby were excellent. The service was very personal and tailored to suit our requirements. I would use them again if planning a special holiday.
