Each restaurant at the Four Seasons Resort Landaa Giraavaru offers food and service of the highest quality. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is the Café Landaa; overlooking the swimming pool and beach it sits below thatched roof pavilions and offers exquisite cuisine with Eastern and Western influences.

The outdoor Guego Grill seats you in the sand and overlooks the eastern coast of the Island. Serving dinner, this is a wonderfully romantic spot and is complemented by delightful fresh fish, prime cut meats and Asian dishes from the open kitchen pavilion.

Blu restaurant overlooks a stunning lagoon and has a great laidback vibe; the perfect spot for light antipasti and pizza during the day, and simply outstanding Italian fare by night. The Blu Bar next door is a great place for a glass of fizz just as the sun is setting. Finally, Al Barakat is open for dinner and serves authentic Arabian cuisine. The restaurant is built over water, off the main jetty and has a great shisha bar downstairs.

Drinks can also be served from the poolside bar, or there is Seabar where you can laze on comfortable cushions and snack on tapas-style shared plates and light bites, all while admiring the lemon sharks and reef fish in the turquoise waters below – stunning!

In-villa dining is also available, and if you are celebrating and want something really special, book one of the amazing and unique dining experiences on offer; from a dreamy dinner on a private sandbank to a sumptuous beach barbecue.

Rooms

There are 103 beautiful thatched beach and water villas; elegantly decorated and opulently adorned, they have high ceilings creating a wonderful sense of space. Wooden floors, typically Maldivian coral walls (re-using old coral) and large, comfy beds with down pillows add to the overall sense of luxury. They offer features such as private plunge pools and large outdoor living spaces with views across the stunning lagoon, and the lush vegetation surrounding each domain ensures privacy. All bungalows, villas, and suites include: King or twin beds, hair dryer, internet access, satellite TV, DVD and CD player, safe, iron and ironing board on request, tea and coffee facilities, phone and minibar.

The Sunrise and Sunset Water Villas come either with or without a pool. Located along a double-loaded jetty off the north western end of the island, they offer separate glass-fronted living rooms and a sea-gazing loft. The Beach Bungalows with Pools are located on the North side of the island and feature gardens with plunge pools overlooking the lagoon with separate living and sleeping areas. You can dine and relax in your open-air bale (traditional thatched hut), cool off in your pool, and soak up some rays in your private garden surround. The bathrooms are sleek and contemporary and feature overflowing baths, family-size indoor showers and al fresco shower gardens.

The Beach Villas with Pools, located on the South side of the island, have direct access to the beach and include lap pools surrounded by deck and daybeds. The living area is a sand-floor open pavilion whilst the sleeping area is air-conditioned.

For an über-luxe hideaway residence, there are the three-bedroom, two-storey estates which feature a private 80-metre beach, two pools, a Stargazing Lounge, a vast al fresco living space, and 24-hour assistance from caring, dedicated staff. Or you could spend your nights suspended over the soothing ocean in one of two sleeping pavilions in the two-bedroom Land and Ocean Suite. The two bedroom Royal Beach Villa has a private lap pool and allows you to access stretches of pure white sand, uninterrupted views of the sapphire sea and the privacy of lush vegetation.

Located at the far end of the water villa jetty, away from the hub of the Resort, revel in the ultimate seclusion of just you and the ocean in the Sunset Two-bedroom Water suite, or there is the Sunrise two-bedroom Water Suite that sits on stilts over water on the north western end the island. Family

Children are extremely well-catered for at Four Seasons Resort Landaa Giraavaru and the resort staff really go out of their way to make sure that they are made to feel welcome. We particularly recommend the island for those with older children able to take part in the fantastic array of facilities below the Ocean surface.

As well as complimentary babies and children’s toiletries, and child-size bathrobes, you can also request cots and items to childproof your room. Children’s menus are available in the restaurants and through in-room dining, and babysitters can be arranged if you would prefer a romantic meal for two! The concierge is always available to make reservations for a family dinner, offer suggestions for tomorrow’s outing or help arrange a babysitter.

There are excellent facilities that will keep kids of all ages entertained; the Kuda Velaa (little turtle) Club has a fantastic free-formed swimming pool and offers exciting games and activities for children aged between four and 12. Majaa Maizan is the young adult’s centre where 13-18 year olds can watch a movie, play table tennis or table football, use the PlayStation or access the Internet. Beach and water sports are also on offer.

Children under 12 can share their parents’ room at no extra charge. The Family Beach Villa with Pool features a 12-metre (39-foot) lap pool, sand-floor living room and spacious study with two twin beds – ideal for families with small children. The two bedroom Family Beach Bungalows boast fresh, seaside-chic interiors and their own beachfront; they contain a second bedroom linked by a short corridor, so they are ideal for families with older children and teenagers.

Due to their unique location and nature, Water Villas are only suitable for children aged 8 years of age and over.

Sustainability

The resort is committed to a range of environmental programmes encompassing energy, carbon and water reduction, including one of the largest solar installations in the Maldives: RoofSolar inverter – comprising 3,105 panels and spanning 5,380 square-metre – a saving 250,000–300,000 litres of diesel and 650-800 tons of CO2 annually, equivalent to powering all 103 of Landaa’s guest rooms, villas and suites for 32 days.

Four interactive ocean conservation initiatives led by 15 marine biologists based on the island operate out of the Marine Discovery Centre: Coral Reefscaping, Turtle Rehabilitation (over 300 turtles have been rescued in a decade), Manta Ray Research and Fish Breeding.

90% of fish and seafood is sourced from sustainable and local Maldivian sources, with island-produced cage-free eggs and a herb garden.

Many hundreds of young Maldivians have graduated from the Hospitality Apprenticeship programme.
