Despite being on its own private island, there is an abundance of facilities and experiences to enjoy; the resort has an excellent Wellness and Spa centre, offering a variety of treatments utilising local ingredients, the centre is host to a Yoga Pavilion, Gym, Nail Bar, and an Alchemy Bar which runs interactive workshops to learn how to create your own bespoke products. It even has a Biohacking lounge with tools such as compression therapy and vibrational pain relief to help overcome jet lag.

There are a number of unique experiences available for fortunate guests, such as a sunset Dolphin cruise on a traditional Dhoni boat, traditional Maldives Islands fishing, Water Sports, Scuba Diving and Snorkelling on the world renowned vibrant reefs, including a snorkelling adventure on Turtle Airport-around the cave where the resident turtles reside.

Dining

Considering its private and reasonably isolated location, the variety and quality of dining options are remarkable; the hotel boasts 6 different culinary and drinking options, with ingredients being fresh and locally sourced.

The first dining option is ‘The Market’, situated on the beach, this serves an impressive breakfast spread and also serves as host to signature buffets with varying international themes.  If you appreciate traditional Italian dishes, ‘Bottega’ serves these with the twist and tropical backdrop.

Those looking for a culinary experience that puts emphasis on local produce should look no further than ‘Drift’, which serves locally caught reef fish prepared on a grill and an assortment of other lighter seafood dishes and salads.

‘Sip and Sand’ is located by the pool, serving charcoal cooked meals during lunch before converting into a Japanese restaurant after the sun sets, offering favourites such as sushi and tempura seafood prepared by the resident chefs.

‘The Point’ is perfect for those looking for a lighter meal, located on the north tip of the island, expect stunning views coupled with excellent wine and Spanish tapas.

Living up to its name ‘Sunset Point’ is an unforgettable sundowner spot, with an exciting drinks menu and live music from the resident DJ. A private castaway picnic can also be arranged on your very own deserted island for those looking for something different.

 

Rooms

The Kanuhura is home to ninety-one beachfront and overwater villas, all of which making clever use of exposed wood and light to create an island feeling whilst at the level of luxury to be expected from a hotel of this calibre. It’s up to you whether your room will be able to step out onto the islands’ stunning beaches, or be perched above its’ sparkling waters.

Beach Villas are shrouded in lush tropical plants whilst having direct access to the beach, with a comfortable outdoor deck and seating area and even an open air shower.  You can also upgrade to have you own private pool. The Deluxe Beach Villa comes with a pool as standard, but with larger floor space and the addition of a private garden and indoor bathtub. A suite version of this room type is also available with an added living and dining space.  For the ultimate toe in sand accommodation experience, opt for a Beach Retreat with pool, a double story suite type with floor to ceiling windows and dining area with bar counter.

Alternatively Water Villas perch above the turquoise Kanuhura lagoon with direct access to the water or a small pool if you prefer to cool off on your deck whilst enjoying uninterrupted views.

Family

Grow With Six Senses Children’s Club offers an array of complimentary activities suitable for children from age 3 – 11, including crafts, beach and pool games, treasure hunts, children’s yoga and many more fun, creative and educational games.   Family sessions include learn to dive lessons for those age 8+, cooking classes, guided snorkelling and water sports, so the grown ups can share in the fun too!  Babysitting is available on request, for an additional charge.

Children under 12 can order from a special children’s menu (children 5 and under eat free from this) or pay 50% when ordering from the adult menus (half portions will be served).

Beach and Deluxe Beach villas can cater for one child sharing but for larger families, there are a high number of multi room villas both on the beach and over the water.  2 bedroom options generally sleep up to 4 adults (children age 12 plus are considered an adult) and 2 younger children.  For those with 3 plus teens, a Three Bedroom Beach Villa Suite with Pool would be a perfect holiday base, accommodating up to 6 adults / older children and 2 younger guests, or the 320 square metre Three Bedroom Beach Reserve for the ultimate stay,  with the same maximum occupancy.

Sustainability

The hotel prides itself in its sustainable practices carried out in order to have minimal impact on its beautiful setting such as a water bottling plant, organic garden and Earth lab where sustainable initiatives are developed.

Guests are welcome to join Sustainability Tours where the islands efforts are showcased and can listen to educational talks given by the on-site Marine Biologist on turtle conservation and other projects.

Location

The resort is situated in unspoilt waters of the Lhaviyani Atoll, and can be accessed by an approximately 10.5 direct flight from Heathrow, followed by an exciting forty-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport (MLE).
