What to do and Where to stay in
Florida is of course renowned for its theme parks and they are undoubtedly the main draw for many families. However, as any visitor will tell you the perfect complement to a day of full-throttle excitement is a beach flop on one of the stunning beaches that bless the extensive coastline of this ‘Sunshine State’. Add to that the fantastic nature-based activities within the Everglades National Park and you have the full package for an amazing family holiday.

Universal Orlando™ incorporates Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure (home to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter no less). The Paradise Coast, on the Gulf of Mexico acts as a springboard for the Everglades National Park, the largest subtropical wilderness in the States. Search for alligators in the ‘River of Grass’ by air-boat or explore the Ten Thousand Islands on a Jet Ski eco-tour and you may find you have the company of local dolphins! At the most southern point of the state, the Florida Keys consist of a string of islands extending to the Gulf, offering some of the best fishing and scuba-diving in the world.
Atlantic-facing Miami is known for its vibrancy and Hispanic culture. Miami Beach is in fact a city built on a sandbar, whilst South Beach is full of palatial homes and excellent restaurants. Just over an hour north you will also find some lovely stretches of beach at Boca Raton.
