Facilities & Activities

With the obvious attractions of Disney World on your doorstep your main dilemma here will be how to pack in all there is on offer. The Animal Kingdom theme park is the only Disney Park of its kind and one of the largest animal theme parks in the world. As guests at a Disney resort hotel, you receive complimentary transportation from the Airport (Disney’s Magical Express) and throughout Walt Disney World Resort. You are also offered the opportunity to enjoy additional time in the theme parks at no extra charge; each day one of the 4 parks offers Extra Magic Hours where parks open 1 hour early or remain open up to 3 hours after regular closing times.

When you’ve exhausted yourself at the fantastic Disney parks there are plenty of ways to cool down and chill out back at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Uzima Pool is an 11,000-square foot tropical oasis surrounded by large canopy trees and Floridian palms and includes a 67 foot-long waterslide – a great spot to unwind and enjoy a cool drink or delicious snack. Alternatively you can take a dip in the 4,700 square-foot Samawati Springs Pool with its even larger 128-foot waterslide. If you enjoy jogging there is a lovely trail you can follow around the pool area. If you prefer to work out in the gym you’ll love the Zahanati Massage & Fitness Centre where you’ll find the latest exercise equipment. Try unwinding in the sauna or have a soothing massage or facial – the perfect way to relax and reinvigorate your mind.

The resort’s fabulous African-inspired décor includes such authentic touches as the vast mud fireplace in the main lobby, thatched ceilings and hand carved wood furniture reminiscent of a real African game reserve. Step outside the lobby and you have tremendous views of the sprawling grounds where you will discover over 30 species of African wildlife including zebras, giraffes, gazelles and flamingos. If you’d like to gen up on the behaviour of the animals around you there are wildlife Field Guides in each room and you can learn more about the animals and ecosystems during fun activities led by onsite Animal Specialists. If you’d like to see the animals at even closer quarters we think you’ll love the Wanyama Safari and Dinner.

Evening entertainment comes in the shape of complimentary campfire activities with outdoor screenings of Disney films. Or if you fancy playing classic arcade and popular video games, take a look at Pumbaas Fun and Games – great entertainment.
