Best Time to Travel
The Galapagos wildlife can be seen year-round! December – May is the ‘wet’ season, temperatures are higher and the sea is calmer so this is the best time for snorkelling and diving but you should expect cloud and daily rain showers. June-November is the ‘dry’ season, temperatures are lower so there should be blue skies and very little rain but you may need to wear a wetsuit for water activities.

Consider opting for special Galapagos family departure where everything is tailored around you and your children with age-appropriate activities and plenty of fun off and on board – a wonderful experience to share with like-minded families.

Itinerary
DAY 1 | FLY TO QUITO, ECUADOR
Fly to Quito overnight via Europe or the USA.
DAYS 2-3 | QUITO
On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Spend the next few days strolling around the atmospheric old town, stop for a delicious ceviche and visit the Equator line – you can stand with one foot in the Northern hemisphere and the other in the South!
DAYS 4-5 | ANDEAN MOUNTAINS
Next, head into the Andean mountains to stay at a traditional rural estancia for 2 nights, where children are warmly welcomed and encouraged to take part in the many activities on offer – looking after the animals, horse riding and mountain-biking amongst other things. Don’t miss a trip to the renowned market in nearby Otavalo to pick up some exquisite and colourful local handicrafts.
DAYS 6-9 | GALAPAGOS ISLANDS
Head back to Quito for your flight to Baltra (perhaps via Guayaquil) for an utterly unforgettable and unique stay (4 – 7 nights) either at Finch Bay, a National Geographic Hotel on Santa Cruz, or aboard an expedition yacht, touring these magical islands, made famous by Darwin. If the budget allows for the latter, your expert naturalist guide will lead you on daily excursions and there are plentiful options for snorkelling, sea kayaking and relaxation on board. However, if you’re land-based, we’ve included a day yacht in this itinerary, so you can still visit some islands only inhabited by animals!
Whichever option you choose, children and adults alike love the fact that they can get up close and personal with sealions, caimans, penguins and birds, fascinating insects, giant tortoises, and other inhabitants of these fascinating islands.
DAY 10 | FLY BACK TO GUAYAQUIL AND TRANSFER TO LA DANESA
Disembark on Baltra and fly to Guayaquil. On arrival take the 90 minute transfer to Hacienda La Danesa.
DAY 11 | EXPLORE THE HACIENDA
A range of fun activities are on offered, including chocolate experiences, river tubing and of course horse riding at this tropical location (some at an additional cost)!
DAY 12 | TRANSFER AND FLIGHT HOME
After your final activity and breakfast, head back to Guayaquil and take your flight home (a night in Guayaquil may be required, depending on your departure time)
