Tips for Families
Los Angeles is a sprawling city and traffic can be heavy so it’s worth considering a stay in 2 locations. Perhaps a couple of nights in Hollywood or Disney if theme parks are on the holiday agenda followed by a couple of nights relaxing on the beach at Santa Monica before flying home.

Itinerary
DAY 1 | FLY TO SAN FRANCISCO
Fly to San Francisco (9.5 hours) where you will stay for 3 nights, perhaps with views over the famous, but often foggy, Bay!
DAYS 2-3 | SAN FRANCISCO
2 full days to explore. Perhaps visit atmospheric Alcatraz by boat, drive or cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge and take a traditional tram ride up Nob Hill. We also recommend a stroll along the waterfront to sample some of the excellent speciality of Chowders and before having some traditional fun on Pier 39 (think carousels and mirror mazes!).
DAYS 4-5 | YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
Collect your car hire and drive east to Yosemite National Park (approx. 3 hours) for a 2-night stay. You can hug a giant redwood, climb waterfalls, take a dip in snow melt and scale trails to be rewarded by some spectacular views!
DAYS 6-7 | MONTEREY
After all that fresh air, head back to the coast and Monterey (approx. 3 hours). The renowned Aquarium, one of the best in the world, is a must and both fun and fascinating for all ages! Wander along atmospheric Cannery Row for great shopping and dining and spot whales from the shore.
DAYS 8-9 | SANTA BARBARA
Spectacular scenery unfurls as you drive the famous ‘Big Sur’ with the road hugging the coastline south to the pretty beach town of Santa Barbara. With its relaxed vibe this is the perfect place to just unwind, watch the pelicans from the pier or even learn to surf!
DAYS 10-12 | LOS ANGELES
There is no shortage of sights to experience in LA so enjoy 2 full days here to explore. Visit Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, Universal Studios and perhaps Disneyland or base yourselves at Santa Monica and soak up the ocean views while people watching on the beach.
DAY 13 | FLY BACK TO LONDON
Drop off your hire car and fly home.
