Punta Islita gives a warm welcome to guests of all ages.

The lovely Beach Club has a very informal family feel, with a child-friendly pool and play area and the beach-side restaurant is ideal for casual family dining. Younger children will enjoy sandcastle building on the beach and paddling along the shoreline, but we do not recommend swimming in the sea due to the strong currents.

Older children will love the variety of activities on offer; horse-riding along the lovely beach, kayaking and zip-lining – all within the extensive grounds (additional charges apply).

Part of Punta Islita’s charm is its remote location, but given this, if you have young children, you may prefer to fly in/out to avoid the long road transfer. The hotel has a small private airstrip serviced by domestic airlines.

Hotel Punta Islita supports an array of local environmental and community initiatives and since it opened its doors in 1994 it has worked closely with its local neighbours, prompting wildlife conservation, reforestation, and local employment opportunities.

Art programs such as the Islita Art Museum and complimentary education further provided empowering tools for the local communities. Guests can enjoy an authentic cultural experience by visiting the art studios, purchasing signature pieces, or creating art with local artists.

The hotel is involved in sea turtle conservation at the local Camaronal Beach and protecting the local red macaw population with the Wild Scarlet Macaw Reserve.  The most recent initiative is the construction of a new school in Islita.

The hotel is located on the rural Nicoya Peninsula, on the West coast of Costa Rica, approx. a 4.5 hour drive from San José – do expect some bumpy roads in places! Alternatively, guests can take a short internal flight to Punta Islita’s own jungle airstrip, a short distance from the hotel.
