Facilities & Activities
Lapa Rios is all about immersing yourself in the glorious surroundings. There are a plethora of walks and hikes within the private reserve to suit all ages and abilities. The enthusiasm of the bi-lingual guides is contagious and you will be overwhelmed by the sheer diversity of trees, animals, butterflies and birds. For those who want to explore further afield the hotel also now offer a day excursion to the remote Corcovado National Park, only accessible by boat.
For a beach experience, guests are transported to the stunning and largely deserted Playa Dulce where the hotel set up lounge chairs and refreshments to create a private ‘beach club’ experience. The currents here can be too strong for swimming, but perfect for surfing or stand-up paddle and there is tuition on hand for those who want to learn to master the waves.
Other popular activities include sea kayaking, waterfall rappelling, zip-lining and fishing. Or you might enjoy horse-riding along the beach and through the rainforest.
For relaxation, there is a lovely swimming pool with loungers and stunning views. There is also yoga or you could enjoy a wonderful, restorative in-room massage.

Sustainability
The lodge and surrounding 1,000-acre reserve was originally created to protect the area’s precious biodiversity and find a way to share it in a sustainable way. Lapa Rios is now recognized globally as a model of sustainable tourism and is keen to promote environmental awareness through its guest experiences. Join the ‘Twigs, Pigs & Garbage Tour’ for a behind the scenes view of how the lodge keep their operations ‘green’ and their family of biogas-producing piglets! The most recent achievement is converting the lodge to 100% reliance on sustainable and renewable sources of energy with new solar and hydro energy sources.
