What to do and Where to stay in
Osa Peninsula

One of the more remote and unspoilt places in Costa Rica. The whole region is breathtakingly beautiful and wild, and you will have a better chance of spotting wildlife here than probably anywhere else in the country. Find your very own piece of paradise by staying in one of the wonderful lodges we recommend nestled deep in the untouched rainforest.

Experiences in Osa Peninsula

Guided nature hikes in this area are a must do! Explore the dense rainforest trails in the company of an experienced naturalist guide. Their eagle-eyes will help you spot sleeping sloths in the treetop canopy, troops of monkeys, anteaters and agoutis amongst others. The flora is stunning too – with spectacular trees as high as those in the Amazon.

At night the rainforest comes alive and a Night Tour will uncover the hidden treasures of the darkness – the moths, snakes, frogs and other wildlife that wake up only when the sun goes down.

The Osa Peninsula is also one world’s top birding destinations, home to over 400 bird species. Colourful scarlet macaws and rainbow-billed toucans are sure to delight even the most novice birdwatcher.

The Golfo Dulce is one of only four tropical fjords in the world and an opportunity for some close up sightings of dolphins along with a wide variety of other sea life – whales (August-November), rays, whale sharks (February) and sea turtles on a boat tour. Alternatively, explore the Gulf’s waters by kayak and paddle into the mangroves to explore local flora and fauna.

And as if this wasn’t enough, waterfall rappelling, canopy tours, surfing and horse riding are just a few of the other activities on offer!
