California
Four Seasons Resort, The Biltmore Santa Barbara

Situated on the beautiful American Riviera this historic property, boasting Spanish colonial architecture and 22-acres of tropical gardens, was once the preserve of movie stars from LA.

Thankfully this wonderfully preserved and elegant 1927 beachfront retreat can now be enjoyed by guests from around the world looking for year-round sunshine.  Located between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains it is the perfect spot to indulge in activities ranging from tennis, golf and water sports to visiting the many stunning local wineries. With fantastic restaurants, a private beach and exceptional Four Seasons service we think this hotel, like Santa Barbara itself, epitomizes the casual sophistication of California.

Facilities & Activities

This is real ‘get out in the sunshine’ country and both the resort and the activities on offer in the local area offer plenty of opportunities to do just this.

Complimentary activities available at the hotel include tennis – there are 3 floodlit courts with ball machines – croquet, cycling, jogging tours, movies and a putting green.  Horse riding, kayaking, mountain biking, sailing and paddle boarding can also be arranged for a fee.

The resort’s heated outdoor pool is located in a secluded garden setting, surrounded by palms and tree ferns and features wonderful underwater music. There are 2 separate whirlpools.

At the resort’s Spa, designed by noted architect Peter Marino, guests can enjoy treatments in 11 personalised rooms. There is also a hair salon for hairstyling, nail care and cosmetics.

For a daily fee, guests in Superior and Deluxe Rooms can enjoy access to the historic and exclusive Coral Casino Beach and Cabana Club located adjacent to the resort. It has a pool and fitness centre with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the pool deck, with a full range of cardio and fitness equipment. Yoga, aqua aerobics, meditation and swimming classes are on offer here.

Within the club and ideal for couples or families, Cabana 24 is available for full-day rental and offers everything you need for the ultimate day at the beach: 2 chaises longues, a table with seating for 4, a 42-inch plasma-screen television with DVD player and private dressing rooms. A retractable striped awning offers additional shade and the teak wood deck and furnishings, retro detailing and thoughtful appointments evoke the glamour of the Club’s 1930s origins.

Butterfly Beach, directly across the street from the resort is one of the best vantage points in Santa Barbara to watch glorious sunsets over the ocean and perhaps spot a few celebrities too!

Outside the resort are 4 excellent golf courses to choose from including the Sandpiper Golf Course, rated in the top 25 in America.

Culture vultures are well served with the Santa Barbara Bowl, a great outdoor amphitheatre, and Granada Theatre nearby.

Lastly try a tour of one of the many local wineries in the Santa Ynez Valley – the temperature is usually 10 degrees warmer here so a great trip when the weather is cooler on the coast.

Through their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program, they seek to preserve and regenerate the beautiful places in which they operate, and leave a positive, enduring impact on their communities.

Their program is centred around two pillars: Planet (environmental impact) and People (social impact). Each pillar is supported by specific activities and objectives, with a close eye to how their efforts will contribute to the achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Location

The hotel is located 3-miles from downtown Santa Barbara within the well to do neighbourhood of Montecito. Guests can easily walk to Montecito’s shops and cafes or cycle into Santa Barbara itself.

The area’s position between the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ynez Mountains affords it a comfortable year-round climate meaning there is no ‘off season’ here with sunshine year round. July to October are, however, still the warmest months.

The hotel is a 2-hour drive from Los Angeles International Airport. Santa Barbara also has a small airport and train line.
