The highlight of any trip to Agra is a visit to the Taj Mahal, and although some of the best views to be had are from the hotel, there is nothing like seeing it in all its glory up close. Sunset and sunrise are the best times to visit the monument and the hotel can provide a shuttle service by golf buggy to get you to the nearest entrance.

The hotel has two excellent restaurants to choose from. Bellevue is the all-day dining restaurant offering a good mix of Western, Pan Asian and Indian dishes. It is also where you’ll find the most incredible spread at breakfast time. For traditional North Indian cuisine, the more formal Esphahan is a specialist tandoor restaurant open in the evenings, where you can enjoy a traditional thali with live Indian music.

The only bar in the world that offers uninterrupted views of the Taj Mahal is the perfect place for a pre-dinner sundowner, and The Lounge, again with those mesmerising views is a welcome spot for a tea or coffee.

For a special occasion or something a bit different, you can opt to Dine under the Stars. A table set for two outside, you’ll have your own personal waiter and a specially curated four course dinner. Or the same experience can be arranged on the balcony of your room against the silhouette of the Taj Mahal.

Rooms

All rooms and suites at The Oberoi Amarvilas have large window offering unobstructed views of the Taj Mahal. The décor is Mughal inspired with beautiful teak floors, handcrafted furnishings, hand knotted rugs, silk cushions and stunning marble bathrooms. Upgrades are available to a balcony room; a deluxe suite with separate living space; and the huge luxury suites. These come with a balcony, spacious living and dining space and a bathroom of dreams with a unique octagonal glass panelled rain shower and standalone bath, all with those unrestricted views of the Taj Mahal.

Family

Like anywhere in India, children are very welcome. They will love the swimming pool and be awed by the none stop views of the Taj Mahal. The menu at the all-day dining restaurant, Bellevue, is very child friendly, with staples such as burgers, pasta, pizza and even fish and chips available. Do note the minimum age of 8 at Esphahan.

Up to two children under the age of 12 can be accommodated in their parent’s room, with one extra bed at no additional charge. Any child over the age of 12 will require their own room and interconnecting rooms are available.

Sustainability

The Oberoi Group is working with Energy Efficiency Services Limited to implement several energy efficient initiatives, including clean energy systems across all its properties. These initiatives will aim to reduce the Group’s overall carbon footprint and strengthen its energy conservation efforts.

As part of the hotel group’s social responsibility, it has partnered up with SOS Children’s Villages with the aim of supporting the education and wellbeing of under privileged children. They provide for the upbringing and education of 210 children as well as offering career advice, experience of the hospitality industry, first aid training and sponsoring higher education through Bachelors Programs of 61 youths at various professional institutes.
