Tarangire & Lake Manyara
Tarangire Ndovu Tented Camp

Ndovu means elephant in Swahili and what better name for a lodge where you have such a high chance of seeing these magnificent creatures in great numbers.

The Lodge is part of the Nasikia Camps Group, nested in the heart of Tarangire National Park amongst the giant baobab trees that this region is also renowned for. This small, intimate camp has 11 Tented Suites and 2 Two Bedroom Family Suites.

Facilities & Activities

The thatched Mess is open plan incorporating lounge, bar and dining areas with open views over the pool deck and bush beyond, creating a number of lovely spots to enjoy a morning coffee or evening sundowner accompanied by an African backdrop.

The good-sized swimming pool is a great place to relax, with views across the bush.

Game drives and walks are offered within the reserve which is home to a variety of biomes and animals including the rare long-necked gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx.

Dining

Fine bush cuisine focusing on fresh produce sourced across Tanzania is served in the Mess each evening before you’ll be escorted back to your room through a pathway of lanterns.

Rooms

The camp offers double, twin, and triple bedding withing their solar-lit Tented Suites which offer good space decorated in natural tones with polished floors atop wooden platforms.   A lovely touch is the sliding, glass doors opening onto private decks so the most can be made of the wilderness setting.  To the rear you’ll find a room divider leading to separate the en-suite with hand-crafted wash stands and shower.

Family

The lodge recommends the minimum age of 6 for children and please note all under 12’s will need to share a tent with an adult for safety reason.

The camp can add an extra bed to a tent to create a triple, or if you are a larger family then the Two Bedroom Family Tents offer ideal space.

Sustainability

Nasikia Camps prides themselves by providing opportunities to the local communities with bednight donations and demonstrating respect for the environment by maximising the use of raw materials that have been sustainably sourced. They are also involved with the Frankfurt Zoological Society De-Snaring Project which employs ex-poachers for re-education.

Location

Tarangire Ndovu Camp is situated within the North East region of Tarangire National Park, easily accessible from Arusha Town by road in approximately 2 hours, thus making it an ideal first safari stop on a tour of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit.
