Flores and Komodo Islands
Ta’aktana, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
Perched above a sweeping bay on the edge of Labuan Bajo, Ta’aktana feels like a gateway to one of Indonesia’s last great frontiers. Here, land and sea collide in dramatic fashion, with the scattered islands of Komodo National Park shimmering on the horizon.
The design is both bold and rooted in heritage, drawing on Flores’ cultural identity with sculptural forms, rich textures and a sense of quiet grandeur. It’s a place that invites you to pause, take in the view, and feel on the edge of something extraordinary.

Facilities & Activities
The resort unfolds across terraced levels that step gently towards the sea, each vantage point revealing a new perspective. At its heart, a collection of infinity pools (one adults only) appear to merge seamlessly with the bay below, creating a striking focal point for slow, sun-drenched days.
The Di’A spa is a sanctuary in every sense—deeply atmospheric, with treatments inspired by local traditions. There is also a well-equipped fitness centre, and open-air spaces for yoga and meditation, where the horizon seems to stretch endlessly.
Experiences here are designed to connect you with the wild beauty of Flores and beyond. Private boat charters set out towards Komodo National Park, where encounters with the legendary Komodo dragons, snorkelling over kaleidoscopic reefs, and drifting past deserted islands become part of the narrative of your stay. Back on land, guided hikes, village visits and cultural immersions offer a deeper understanding of this still largely untouched region.

Dining
Dining at Ta’aktana is as much about atmosphere as it is about flavour, with each venue thoughtfully positioned to make the most of its remarkable setting.
Leros is the resort’s signature restaurant, where both international locally inspired dining is reimagined with refinement and creativity throughout the day. Meanwhile, the Pool Bar keeps things effortlessly informal, serving refreshing drinks and lighter fare throughout the day. We’d never thought of Indonesia as a coffee producer, but at the Coffee Roastery, you can enjoy an exceptional brew from locally sourced beans!
A great spot for an inventive cocktail is Maiga, located on the jetty, whilst Nera Lounge also provides an elegant setting for sunset drinks and light bites.
Each evening, Umasa then launches a celebration of Indonesia’s vast culinary landscape, taking you on a journey of local flavours with seasonally inspired dishes, or if you’re keen to dine accompanied by unforgettable rooftop views, Taba grill and bar is the venue to book. Drawing inspiration from the ancient robata technique, chefs masterfully prepare locally sourced seafood, hand-cut Wagyu, and organic vegetables over an open flame, infusing each dish with smoky intensity and rich complexity.
Rooms
Cradled between lush forests and the Flores Sea, accommodation is spacious, layered and richly textured, echoing the natural tones and materials of the island. Interiors feel both contemporary and grounded, with handcrafted details, warm woods and expansive glazing that draws the outside in.
The Wae Rana Suites feature a private balcony with a resort view, alongside an open play layout with King or 2 x Double beds. Flores Suites, positioned with the same generous footprint, have the advantage of a partial sea view, whilst for full ocean outlook, upgrade to a Ta’aktana Suite on an upper floor.
In the One Bedroom Villa category, you’ll have the benefit of a separate sitting space and private pool on your terrace, with either garden or sea views. For a truly exceptional escape, the Overwater Sea Villa offers the resort’s most exclusive level of accommodation. Inspired by the distinctive conical-roofed houses of the traditional Wae Rebo village with thoughtfully crafted with artisan details, and complete with a private pool and generous outdoor spaces, a stay in this villa type is an immersive experience in coastal tranquillity.

Sustainability
There is a strong sense of stewardship woven into the resort’s ethos. Design and construction have been approached with sensitivity to the landscape, while ongoing efforts support local communities and cultural preservation.
Particular attention is given to protecting the surrounding marine environment, encouraging responsible exploration of the reefs and islands that make this region so unique.
Location
Set just outside Labuan Bajo, where there is a local airport with regular links to Bali, the resort enjoys a commanding position overlooking the gateway to Komodo National Park.
