Flores and Komodo Islands
Navila Liveaboard

Sailing through the remote islands and anchorages of the Komodo National Park, Navila Liveaboard, a traditional phinisi boat accommodating up to 14 guests, offers one of the most atmospheric ways to experience the archipelago’s extraordinary wildlife, including the famous Komodo dragon.

Departing from Labuan Bajo, your floating home from home will navigate through rugged islands rising from ink-blue waters and hidden coves with unique pinky white sand.  Choose from a variety of multi-day cruises, either on a shared or private basis; whichever option you choose, the experience is sure to be a true highlight of your time in Indonesia.

Facilities & Activities

Crafted of locally sourced wood, accented with colourful fabrics, this traditional style boat provides a warm and welcoming space to relax as you explore.  Whilst there’s an indoor dining area and bar with air-conditioning to escape the heat of the day, you will likely spend much of your time relaxing in one of the 3 outdoor teak-decked areas, providing front-row seats for a dramatic sunset after an active day.

The experience is built around exploration. Snorkelling and diving reveal coral gardens just beneath the surface, where turtles drift through clear currents and vibrant marine life darts. The waters of Komodo are among the richest in the region, and each bay brings something different.

On land, guided excursions bring the raw beauty of the islands into focus—trekking across Komodo or Rinca in search of the legendary Komodo dragons, hiking to panoramic ridgelines, or stepping onto untouched beaches where the only sounds are wind and water.

Starlink is available for those wanting to stay in touch with the outside world!

Dining

Dining aboard Navila is shaped by place and pace rather than formality. Meals are prepared fresh by the onboard team and served in open-air settings where the ocean remains your constant backdrop.

The menu blends Indonesian flavours with international comfort dishes, with a strong emphasis on fresh seafood and locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast is often enjoyed as the boat rests in a quiet bay, while lunches follow morning excursions—simple, fresh, and restorative.

Evenings are the most memorable. As the sky softens into deep amber and violet, dinner is served under open skies or lantern light, with the boat gently rocking at anchor. It is unhurried, atmospheric, and deeply connected to the landscape around you.

Rooms

There are six air-conditioned cabins in total.  The two on the top deck with a king-sized bedroom feel especially immersive, with elevated views across the archipelago, whilst two on the lower deck offer queen size beds and two with singles.

Family

Navila Liveaboard can work well for adventurous families, particularly those with older children comfortable around water and boat travel.

There are no dedicated children’s activities, but the environment itself becomes the experience—snorkelling in calm lagoons, spotting marine life from the deck, and joining island excursions within Komodo National Park.

Meals can be adapted for younger guests, with flexible options prepared onboard.

Cabin configurations vary, so suitability for families depends on layout and availability, but the experience is generally best suited to those who enjoy an active, nature-led journey.

Sustainability

Operating within a protected marine environment, Navila places strong emphasis on responsible sailing practices. Careful navigation, respect for marine ecosystems, and mindful anchoring are all central to the experience.

There is a clear awareness of the fragility of Komodo National Park, with efforts focused on minimising impact while allowing guests to experience its extraordinary biodiversity in a meaningful way.

Location

The journey begins in Labuan Bajo, a short flight from Bali and the gateway to Komodo, where guests step aboard before setting sail into the wider waters of Komodo National Park.
