Sustainability is at the heart of the resorts’ ethos, believing in restoring the rich architectural heritage of Kerala along with its natural surroundings, whilst providing the best of services and it has won awards for its efforts.

The hotel’s vision started at conception with all materials being reused and recycled from existing Keralan homes, which were painstakingly taken apart, moved and put back together by hand. And it continues in the day to day running of the hotel. There is no plastic anywhere, instead the hotel is offering safe drinking water, by stringently purifying rain and ground water, with micro filters and reverse osmosis, served in reusable glass bottles throughout the property. All toiletries are from natural and organic ingredients and even the soap-holders are made from leaves. Food where possible is sourced locally, and local communities are supported through authentic cultural programmes.

On the shores of Lake Vembanad, in the village of Kumarakom, the resort nestles right in the heart of the backwaters. It therefore forms the perfect place from which to explore these unique waterways from, also only a 2 hour drive from Cochin Airport and less than an hour from some of our favourite Keralan beach resorts.
