Facilities & Activities

The hotel offers a fantastic array of facilities to suit all interests and ages, including a large free-form pool, state of the art gym, 9 tennis courts (4 floodlit), yoga and Pilates classes in a dedicated yoga pavilion, guided nature walks and a fully-equipped cinema with daily movies.  There is also a library with complimentary Wi-Fi, computers and printers.

For water sports lovers, snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking are all complimentary, whilst scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, water-skiing and kite surfing are available nearby for a fee.  Boat excursions can also be arranged.

The hotel’s beautiful 500m-long crescent shaped beach has stunning white sand and calm waters in a secluded bay and is perfect for relaxing with a book.  Golf lovers can enjoy two 18-hole golf courses nearby.

Should you require further pampering the hotel’s award winning Blue Spa is set in a two storey pavilion surrounded by rainforest and offers indulgent treatments – many of which are exclusive to the resort – in 6 beautiful treatment rooms.  Treatments include those designed to counterbalance the effects of the sun and long haul travel and both male and female therapists are available. Guests here can also enjoy saunas, plunge pool, hair salon, juice bar and a chill out zone.

Dining

The resort offers 4 fantastic restaurants and 4 bars. In addition food can be ordered and brought to the beach or the pool. European, vegetarian, Japanese and Caribbean bento boxes made up of light bites can be delivered to your lounger for lunch (!) and a complimentary afternoon tea is served at a location of your choice.

Fruit kebabs are offered on the beach at 11am each morning and iced water in cool boxes are available as standard for every couple on the beach.

Indigo on the Beach Restaurant is open all day and sea breezes fill the open-sided room and terrace. It serves healthy grills, BBQs and seafood and a weekly beach barbecue is also on offer here. Children can enjoy the flexible menus designed just for them.

Ottimo is an Italian restaurant set beside the pool and is open for lunch daily and on certain nights for dinner, dependant on season.

East, with its stunning contemporary fuchsia and dark wood interior, offers Japanese, Thai and Indonesian dishes.

The Jetty grill, a casual venue for adults only, is close to the Watersports Centre and is open daily from 10am – 6pm.  This is the place to get a refreshing drink after a swim in the sea or a light lunch.  Guests can also book a private dinner on the jetty or beach.

The Indigo Bar is where guests gather at any hour for cocktails, fruit punches and drinks.  Coconut Grove is located next door on a pretty area of shaded sand.

Rooms

The resort is made up of 87 contemporary Suites – all with cool and calm interior design and ocean views.  Some Suites work best for couples, whilst others are more suited to families.  Both types of holidaymaker have an area of the resort dedicated to them.

All air-conditioned Suites offer satellite TV with docking station, Wi-Fi, bedside optic reading lights, complimentary fresh fruit and bottled water, Gaggia espresso machine, minibar, crisp linen and fluffy bathrobes. The architecture is Caribbean style and hammocks await amongst the trees.

Garden Suites have a terrace or balcony opening onto tropical gardens with partial sea views and are spacious and split level with an open plan bedroom and sitting room. cean Suites are spacious and split level with an open plan bedroom and sitting room, king-size beds and sea views.

Beach Terrace Suites have beach views and king-size beds and sitting areas with a separate study or second bedroom with twin beds and a terrace on the ground floor leading out directly onto the soft sands. Upstairs, Beach Balcony Suites have a similar set up but are located on the upper level with a balcony.

Carlisle Suites include 3 double bedrooms, 2 with king-size beds and 1 with twin beds, all are en suite. Also offer large sitting room and kitchen, private terrace or balcony with luxurious day lounger.

Bay Suites are the newest additions to the suites at Carlisle Bay, they are reserved for adults only and located on the quieter end of the beach, perfect for honeymoons! Each suite has a private butler service.

Family

The hotel is extremely family friendly with a fantastic children’s club including a crèche for children as young as six months – an unusual feature for a Caribbean resort. Older children are also catered for – as are teenagers. Children are given a robe and welcome pack on arrival and beach toys, baby bottles and bottle warmers are available on request.

The Caribbean Cool Kids Club is open seven days a week for children aged 6 months to 6 years and is supervised by very experienced, qualified childcare professionals – freeing up Mum and Dad to relax and enjoy some of the activities at the resort.  Children’s activities on offer include everything from lizard hunting and turtle watching to arts and crafts, tennis and treasure hunts.  Children here have their own paddling pool, sand pit and jungle gym to explore.  The club is free for children over 2 years, but there is a fee for younger children.

For older children aged 4 to 11 years, the Crew Blue programme offers complimentary activities such as, raft building, football, zip wiring and star fish hunting.  It runs Monday – Friday in school holidays.

Crush is dedicated to guests’ aged 12+ and offers wakeboarding, zip lining, yachting and movie screenings. It also includes a teen lounge where guests can relax and enjoy table football and table tennis.

The hotel’s own cinema also offers children’s movies in the early afternoons complete with a complementary high tea!

The hotel also provides a comprehensive children’s menu to suit even the fussiest eater and babysitting can be arranged on request.  A daily early children’s tea is even served from 5.00pm – 6.30 pm.

Accommodation wise Beach Terrace Suites are ideal for young families with king-size bed, a second twin bedroom to the rear of the suite and direct access to the beach. The Carlisle Suites with 3double bedrooms are also ideal for larger families of 5 / 6 and include a handy kitchen.

Sustainability

The resort now has reusable water bottles for guests and is equipped with a Reverse Osmosis plant to produce purified water as their main water supply.  Energy saving equipment such as inverter air conditioning is also incorporated and the use of grey water on the gardens.  A herb and salad garden is on site whilst most other perishable supplies are purchased from local farmers.

Location

Carlisle Bay is located on the under developed South coast of the island in a tranquil cove, backed by beautiful hills and lush rainforest. The hotel is only a 30-minute drive away from the lively port and island capital St John’s and 20 minutes from Nelson’s Dockyard and English Harbour.

There is a 9-hour flight from London to the island’s airport VC Bird International Airport. The hotel is a 30 minute drive from the airport.
