What to do and Where to stay in
Sun City

Only 2 hours from Johannesburg, situated in the heart of the African bush, lies one of the world’s most unique resorts offering a world of entertainment, leisure and sports activities for couples and families, wrapped up in some astonishing architecture. Its proximity to Pilanesberg National Park also makes this an excellent choice for combining Big Fun with Big Five safari, whilst it is also half way from Johannesburg to Madikwe and thus an ideal stop-over location.

Experiences in Sun City

The famous ‘Valley of the Waves’, one of the largest water theme parks in the world, provides endless thrills and spills on rides, slides, waves and tubes! This 6 500 square meter wave pool generates waves of nearly 2 metres high, every 90 seconds! For the adrenaline seekers, The Temple of Courage with its 17 metre slide will find you hurtling under a bridge and into a small pool. If that doesn’t appeal, embark on an exciting body slide on the Tarantula or Scorpion, or the gentler Tube ride on the lazy river. Don’t forget to seek out the Spider Web Sway Bridge and surrounding hidden cave waterfalls. Water World also offers a full range of water sports from parasailing to jet skiing.

Along with the extraordinary water attractions, this ‘African Vegas’ also offers show stopping entertainment for all ages and stages, morning, noon and night. Animal World, an Exotic Bird Aviary and Birds of Prey Centre as well as the Kwena Crocodile Garden, a reptile park and Elephant Interaction Centre provide an opportunity to see and interact with wildlife on-site. Guests can also visit the Motseng Cultural Village and Shebeen which provide an opportunity to experience at first hand the traditions, food, arts and crafts of various South African cultures.

Kamp Kwena offers a daily, supervised programme with a host of activities for children including mini golf, mini cars and trampolines. Chaperones will also take the children to see the many attractions on site and there is a fully supervised crèche and babysitting facilities for the youngest guests. Whilst the kids enjoy these facilities, they can put their parents in the fully equipped health club, arrange for them to play tennis, go quad biking or, if they have been very good, play golf on the one of the two 18-hole championship golf courses followed by lunch at one of the 25 restaurants!  It’s also possible to take a game drive in the nearby Pilanesburg National Park, even take a hot air balloon over the stunning scenery.

If you’re not too exhausted by the evening, guests can enjoy a theatrical show, go to the cinema or try their luck in a world class casino or games arcade.
