Flying with BA, Need to know

If you are flying with British Airways to get the best choice of seats and to make sure your family sits together, it’s best to reserve your seats in advance, for which you might have to pay.

If you are an Executive Club Gold, Silver or Bronze Member, you can reserve seats for everyone in your booking for free. Make sure you add your membership number to all your bookings to take advantage of this benefit. You will also be able to reserve seats for free with certain fares. If you don’t choose your seats in advance, British Airways will do their best to seat your family together a few days before your flight departs, from the limited selection of seats available. This might result in your family being split over different rows or across the aisle, however they will make sure each child under 12 is seated with an adult from your booking. Anyone over 12 years is treated as an adult so may be seated separately.

For long-haul flights departing London Heathrow, please note that airport check-in closes 60 minutes prior to departure. For short-haul departures it closes 45 minutes beforehand.

Long-haul baggage allowances are usually:

Economy 1 piece of hold luggage weighing 23kg max.
