Zimbabwe River & Rail Safari, Travel with Teens
This thrilling 10 day/ 9 night family safari offers captivating elephant encounters at Nehimba Lodge within game-rich Hwange National Park, where you can enjoy riding safaris, walking-safaris, game-drives and hide-viewing. Your safari extravaganza continues with a journey on the renowned Elephant Express to Victoria Falls - one of the world\'s seven natural wonders. This family programme is all about sparking curiosity, learning as a family and leaving you with incredible memories to look back on.

You'll be met on arrival for your road transfer from Victoria Falls Airport to Nehimba Lodge, in Northern Hwange. It's secluded, it's wild, the guides are exceptional - a combination that makes for a magical African bush experience. Enjoy 3 nights here - plenty of time to get well-acquainted with the amazing waterhole, giving you arm-chair game-viewing like you wouldn't believe! It's all about the elephants here and you can expect to see large herds even within the camp. Children will love the safari activity booklet that teaches animal tracking and identification and game-walks are tailored for each family.
Next is a road transfer to South Hwange, where you'll stay at Camelthorn Lodge for 3 nights, nestled in the cool woodlands on the southern edge of Ngamo’s famous plains. Enjoy al fresco dining, savour your morning coffee in front of a roaring fire, track herds of elephant by foot, and enjoy close up photography from inside the look-up blind. During the dry season, a popular activity is to take an all day trip into the Park visiting the waterholes to drop off fuel and oil for the motors as well as rations and supplies for the pump attendants. After a picnic lunch you then enjoy a leisurely game drive back to the lodge. 'Pump Runs' usually end with sundowners at one of the waterholes close to camp.
Train-enthusiasts and naturalists alike will love boarding the Elephant Express which takes you back up to Victoria Falls. It surely has to be one of the coolest ways to travel through the Park! You're free to move about the train, try on the conductor’s hat, and enjoy a drink and bite to eat. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife roaming around the track! The train can stop at liberty and your conductors will move along the track to ensure you get the best photos.
For the final leg of your adventure, you'll transfer by road to Zambezi Sands where you'll enjoy 3 nights. This stylish tented camp sits on the banks of the mighty river and along with amazing views offers a relaxed vibe that makes it perfect for families. It’s a great place to unwind – dip into your private plunge pool, sip a cocktail (or mocktail!) on a sundowner cruise or explore the Zambezi National Park. Victoria Falls is just an hour away giving you full access to all the thrills and spills of the Falls, whether it is helicopter and micro-light flights, white-water rafting, gorge swings or rather tamer but fascinating community visits.
Rates incloude meals, soft drinks, local beers/ wines/ spirits, selected safari activities and Park fees.
