Bushbaby Travel: Inspiring travel for life
Hot Chocolate Whistler Mountains

Canadian Frontiers, Travel with Teens

Canada is proud to showcase awe-inspiring vistas of towering mountains, mighty rivers, ancient forests and turquoise lakes. As a destination it also hosts an admirable range of outdoor pursuits, alongside the First Nations culture to discover and that's before we've even mentioned the bears! A trip to Vancouver Island is a must during your stay and for active couples we recommend a few days in Whistler, home to a wide variety of exciting activities during the Summer as well as Winter months.

Hot Chocolate Whistler Mountains

Upon arrival in to Vancouver, often regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, meet your transfer to your chosen hotel for 2 nights. Take advantage of the Oceanside location and join a boat to Granville Island or explore Stanley Park by horse-drawn carriage.

Collect your car hire and set off for the Ferry to Vancouver Island, before driving on to Victoria for 2 nights. The City combines old world charm with new world adventures such as trips in a zodiac in search of Orcas, ideal for wildlife enthusiasts. Just wandering around the Inner Harbour, interspersed with a stop at the excellent Royal BC Museum, is a real pleasure.

After your time in Victoria, drive North and West to Tofino (approx 5 hours through some stunning scenery) in the windswept Pacific Rim National Park for 3 nights. Wild beaches backed by ancient forests make for a magical setting that feels unchanged from ancient times. Activities include coastal bear watching, where you can watch youngsters munch on crabs, alongside whale watching whilst you can also try y our hand at surfing.

Drive East to your Nanaimo (approx 3 hours), take the ferry back to Vancouver and then head to Whistler (90 minutes) for your final 3 nights. Activities on offer include white water rafting and kayaking, down hill biking and zip lining but whichever you choose, we recommend also including the Peak to Peak Gondola for some show-stopping views!

Following on from your stay here, drive back to Vancouver, return your car and fly home.

suggested extensions

If the budget allows, we highly recommend visiting Knight Inlet, a floating Lodge offering the once in a lifetime opportunity to watch Grizzly Bears in their native habitat. You can also opt to extend your Canadian adventure with a trip in to the Rockies, perhaps on the world-renowned Rocky Mountaineer train, or if a tropical beach to finish is a must-have, fly on to Hawaii for a relaxing week.
