Kick start your Italian adventure, with some sight-seeing in Rome. A stay of 3 nights gives you plenty of time to see the iconic sights of the Coliseum, Pantheon and Trevi Fountain at a child-friendly pace. Embrace the Italian approach and enjoy evenings with the family, over a feast of authentic pizza and pasta in atmospheric Piazza Navona, also home to some enticing toy shops. We challenge you to work your way through the gelato menus - definitely a family effort, with so many flavours to choose from!

Next, collect your hire car for a scenic drive (approx. 2 - 3 hours) to your chosen hotel in Tuscany or the Umbrian hills. Enjoy a week of relaxation in the delightful surroundings, visiting local hilltop towns or perhaps venturing to the beach for the day. Either way, food lovers of all ages will be in rapture at the delectable offerings available at the local eateries - you might even be tempted by a family cookery lesson so you can re-create la dolce vita at home!

Opt to fly to Naples and spend 3 nights near Sorrento at the start of your holiday. Visit the impressive sights of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius before delighting little ones with a train ride to Rome (70 minutes) - more exciting than a car any day! Another popular family add-on is Pisa - sure to elicit many a perplexing question from toddlers and it works well in conjunction with magical Florence. There are plentiful flights back to the UK from here, so it makes for an authentic ending to your Italian sojourn.
