East Coast Road Trip, Just Us
The ultimate weekend escape has to be a trip to the bright lights of the Big Apple, where you can indulge in delectable food, endless entertainment and some retail therapy. However, extending your stay to explore the East Coast makes a lot of sense. head North to historic Boston before some time on the beach in Cape Cod and squeeze in a trip to iconic Washington DC before you head home.
Take a day-time flight to Boston, the gateway to glorious New England with its spectacle of Autumn colour and white-washed clapboard buildings. Settle into your chosen hotel for 3 nights- for something different, opt for (The Liberty Boston - Wequasset - Palomar DC – Hawks Cay) which used to be a jail ! Home to Harvard University, the city is easy to get around and has a rich heritage. The Freedom Trail tells the fascinating story of America’s revolution and civil war so is well worth a visit for history buffs. After exploring the other sights, including Beacon Hill, the Seaport District and Quincy Market, collect your hire car and drive down to Cape Cod for some chill-out time on the beach. Enjoy the glorious coastal scenery and catch a ferry to the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
Next, continue your journey south to New York. Stay at least 3 nights- with so much to see and do, the days will pass in a whirl. Comfortable shoes are definitely recommended if you are planning to combine some sight-seeing with shopping at the famous stores- perhaps take a break with a cruise around Manhattan Island.
Pack your no doubt bulging suitcases and take the train or drive down to Washington DC for the final part of your East Coast adventure. See The White House, explore classic Georgetown and enjoy al-fresco dining overlooking the Pontomac River.
Head to the airport for your overnight flight home and hope you're still within the baggage allowance!
