What to do and Where to stay in
The Atlas Mountains
The snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop to Marrakech. However, a whole new experience awaits those who venture closer. The home of the Berbers, the original inhabitants of North Africa, a stay here provides the perfect contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Experiences in The Atlas Mountains
Only an hour from Marrakech, footpaths and mule tracks meander their way through lush, irrigated terraces, apple orchards and walnut groves to villages where the way of life has changed little for centuries and traditional values and hospitality are unaffected by the outside world. You can enjoy lovely short walks or longer, more challenging treks over several days – all levels and abilities can be accommodated. If you’d like to cover a longer distance you can also explore by bike, camel or donkey!
We can also arrange for you to visit a Berber family, for a cup of mint tea or to spend time cooking a delicious meal. The Berbers are the original inhabitants of these vast mountains and their way of life remains largely unchanged; farming the dramatic slopes without high tech equipment and living in traditional homes made from packed stone and earth that seem to have evolved from the mountains themselves.
For more structured activities, the tree-top adventures of the Terres d’Amanar Acro Park are a great option en-route from Marrakech. Mountain biking, zip lining and suspension bridges are all part of the adventure.
