If you want a fix of Washington political scene, you can visit the Capitol – home to the House of Representatives and the Senate – with an impressive new visitor centre. The National Zoo is also of the Smithsonian’s extensive collection with residents including a pair of giant pandas. Charming Georgetown is a located along the Potomac River waterfront. It is the oldest part of Washington, once home to the Kennedys, and hosts numerous high-end shops, bars and restaurants.
