The hotel rooms and suites are found in the Resort’s prestigious North Pointe Village which overlooks the Marina and is close to most of the resort’s restaurants and pool complex. The Harbourside Marina View Guestrooms offer spacious one bedroom accommodation with breathtaking views from a private open balcony, and feature a comfortable king size bed with white bed linen, en suite bathroom with granite counter and large bath, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, refrigerator and access to laundry facilities. The Harbourside Water View Guestrooms offer the same great features as before but with views over Pine Island Sound. Harbourside Suites are also available with either the Marina or Water View. They offer more living space with a sitting area and sleeper sofa. Accessible Rooms are also available.

All of the villas offer comfortable accommodation, full kitchens with coffee machines, private screened balcony (especially important in the summer when no-see-ums, a small mosquito, can be an issue), Wi-Fi and access to laundry facilities. The Tennis Villas have a private pool, one or two bedrooms, and are close to the Tennis Complex.  Bayside Villas have either one or three bedrooms, and are found in the South Village close to the Reception Centre and are a short walk to the beach, restaurants and shops.

Beach Villas come in either a one, two, or three bedroom configuration. As well as overlooking the stunning beach you are close to the tennis complex and resort pools. If you’re looking for a little more privacy then the Two Bedroom Beach Cottages will suit you since they are tucked away in the dunes with close access to the beach, just 50 yards away. The master bedroom includes a king size bed and the second bedroom has two singles. There is a dedicated pool and laundry facilities included.

Gulf Cottages are just 50 yards from the turquoise blue water of the Gulf of Mexico. These spacious, three bedroom cottages feature two bedrooms on the main level and one bedroom in the loft area that opens to a living and dining area, and laundry facilities on site. The Marina Villas have two bedrooms and are just a short walk from the children’s activities and the beach; there are fantastic views of the marina from your balcony.

At the north end of the resort and overlooking Pine Island Sound, the three bedroom Seabreeze Grand Villas feature a full kitchen with breakfast bar area, a separate dining area, whirlpool bath in the master bathroom, in-room safe, on-site laundry facilities and stunning views of the golf course, and the Gulf of Mexico, and you are just a five minute walk to the beach.  At the tip of the North Pointe of Captiva, the two or three bedroom Land’s End Villas are the ultimate location at South Seas.  You are close to the resort’s pool complex, you have spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico, beautiful décor, in-room safe, on-site laundry facilities, iron and ironing board, and there is a large open deck from which to enjoy the delightful sunsets.

If you’re looking for something a little more secluded, the resort offers more than 30 exclusive specialty condominiums and private homes that offer a choice ranging from two to six bedrooms, some with private pools or direct beach access; a luxurious holiday home but with the added benefits of all the resorts facilities.

  • facilities & activities

There’s plenty of opportunity for both relaxation and adventure at the South Seas Island Resort with a huge range of excellent facilities on offer; if you want to sit back and enjoy some of that tropical sunshine poolside, you have three great choices including the H2Whoa! Waterpark. Or take a trip to the Lifestyle Spa & Boutique where you will find a variety of indulgent treatments and unique gifts in its fabulous shop. There are more boutiques on site for you to browse and there is also a provision store nearby should you need it.

If you like to continue your fitness regime while you’re away, you’ll find plenty to keep you active. There is a fully equipped fitness centre, Yoga classes, water Pilates, tennis courts, and a nine-hole golf course with stunning views over the Gulf. Alternatively you can admire the beautiful natural foliage on the island whilst walking or jogging along the historic Plantation Road. Bikes are available to rent and are a lovely way to get around the Island, but if you’re in need of a break after all that activity, there is also a complementary South Seas Trolley running regularly around the resort from 7am until 11pm.

Obviously, the two and a half miles of spectacular beach and ocean are a major source of entertainment at the resort, all you need is a bucket to collect the amazing varieties of shell that you’ll find scattered along the coastline that is world renowned for its shelling. You could also explore the native wildlife on a kayaking tour, or learn about the exotic aquatic life on a guided fishing expedition. During your stay you may spot everything from bottlenose Dolphins and West Indian Manatees to the Great Egrets, White Ibis and Cuban Anole Lizards.

There are a wide variety of watersports available for a charge: parasail rides, waverunner tours, paddleboards, kayaks, or banana boat rides. You can take a cruise to watch dolphins, or see amazing sunsets, go fishing, learn to sail – or if you’re an accomplished sailor there are racing and performance packages also available.

  • dining

There are four restaurant choices within the resort.  Harbourside Bar & Grill serves impressive breakfasts and dinner, dining indoor and outdoor with views over the marina. The fresh fish, caught locally in the waters surrounding Captiva Island, is fantastic. For a casual lunch or evening meal, there is The Pointe which can be found poolside in the Resort Pool Complex. There is also the Crooked Snook Tiki Bar, if you fancy a beverage whilst you relax by the pool.

Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille offers delicious Caribbean inspired cuisine in a laidback atmosphere and is open for lunch and dinner. Enjoy the views at the Sunset Beach Bar where you can pick up a light bite and delicious tropical drinks. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail here during the evening sunset; you may even glimpse the famous Florida “Green Flash” as the sun sinks into the horizon.

If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love Scoops & Slices; a 1950s themed diner serving a wide selection of ice cream, frozen yoghurt, pizza and sweets, and you can get your caffeine-fix from Starbucks. If you’re in self-catering accommodation and decide to cater for yourselves, there is also a good provision store or full supermarket a short drive away.

  • family

South Seas Island Resort is a true family retreat, with countless activities on offer to keep parents and children entertained, but please note charges can apply. Children will love the shell laden beaches and H2Whoa! Family waterpark which boasts two great water slides and zero entry for smaller kids, and there is plenty of lounge area seating for parents to relax in the sun. If your little ones love the water there are also swimming lessons available, a plethora of watersports including kayaking, banana boats and sailing and an excellent fishing program called GO! Fish which teaches children the catch and release technique.

Skully’s Family Interactive Centre is a terrific place to explore if you fancy a break from the sunshine. In the Activities Galley there is the opportunity for children of all ages to get creative with arts and crafts. The Turtle Tot Programs allow parents and toddlers to learn and create themed crafts and activities guided by the recreation staff. This is ideal for ages 12 months to 4 years and parents must accompany children to these activities.

There are more fun activities run for families throughout the day with everything from lawn games and kite making to crab racing and more.  ScoutAbout is a scavenger hunt around the resort that will have you embarking on an adventure of discovering dolphins, manatees, beautiful sunsets and more. The Sanibel Sea School offers sea based education programs and exploration of the vibrant ecosystems of the Island; you can enrol your children in a three-hour, half-day session or combine a morning and afternoon session to stay for a full day, with a la carte lunch available. Each session allows children to immerse themselves in the thrill of ocean discovery and includes orientation, educational discussions, an art project and plenty of time "out in the field." There is also a regular Night Out activity available for children aged between four and 11; they have a fun night of themed crafts and games, feast on delicious food and desserts - and you get to have a night off!

Older children will enjoy Skully’s Arcade with video games and air hockey tables. There are also Wii Tournaments, Scavengoogle, Game Nights and more; a great way to meet new friends and have fun practising interactive activities. The watersports are all always a hit with the teens and the Offshore Sailing School leads an excellent GO! SAIL programme which offers a two-hour session for children aged 9-16 to learn to sail with professionals.

All of the resort restaurants are child-friendly; Scoops and Slices, the 1950s themed diner serving ice cream and pizza is a particular favourite with the younger guests! Babysitters are also available upon request, so you can leave very little ones behind and have a well-deserved night out.

There is a huge range of accommodation on offer; rooms and suites in the hotel, all the way through to luxury homes on the beach. There are one, two and three bedroom villas and cottages that are a great option for families, as they offer space, privacy and the option to self-cater but you still have all the marvellous benefits that staying on a full-service resort affords you. The three bedroom Gulf Cottages and Two Bedroom Beach Cottages are perfect for families, being spacious and close to the beach. The Marina Villas are another good option as they have two bedrooms and are just a short walk from the children’s activities.
