The Coral Reef Club is a stunning family run resort with a distinctly warm welcome that we think offers some of the best food in the Caribbean. Situated on a superb stretch of white sandy beach and within 12 acres of beautiful lush gardens the hotel oozes old school colonial charm. For a small hotel it offers an amazing variety of exquisite accommodation: its 88 rooms, suites, cottages and villas are individually decorated and spread between the beautiful gardens and stunning pools. The effect is a tranquil oasis that feels like a very exotic home away from home!

  • rooms

The impressive variety of accommodation ranges from a single occupancy garden room to villas.

Garden rooms, consisting of a king size or twin bedded room, are air-conditioned and have their own private patio or balcony with a garden view and accommodate two adults.  Junior and Senior Suites are slightly larger with a large king-size or twin beds, a sitting area in the bedroom and a large patio or balcony and accommodate two adults.  If you are keen to be steps from the soft sands, opt for a Luxury Junior Suite,  located as you head towards the sea but with pool views.

Ground floor Luxury Cottages, or first floor Luxury Suites located in the gardens leading towards the sea, are more spacious still offering a separate air-conditioned living room with sofa bed, large patio (most with garden views) and not forgetting that private plunge pool!  If you are on holiday with friends, you might like to explore the option of the resorts’ two villas, which are 3 and 4 bedrooms respectively and share a private pool.

The five exclusive Luxury Plantation Suites have a bedroom with four-poster or canopied bed, spacious living room, dressing area and large bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate tub. There is also a large covered terrace with wet bar, open sundeck and plunge pool. These are adult only territory!

It is an easy drive to the stalactites and stalagmites of Harrisons Caves and the wonderful plantation house of St Nicholas Abbey, the Andromeda Botanical Gardens, Barbados Wildlife Reserve and Folkestone Marine Park and Museum. There are also some highly recommended independent restaurants for which Barbados is so well known nearby. The hotel is happy to help arrange activities or make bookings, or alternatively hire a car and go on your own voyage of discovery.

  • dining

Managed by the same family for 40 years there is a strong emphasis here on impeccable service and excellent food – earning the resort a well-deserved place as one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The hotel’s award-winning chef provides fantastic fine dining at the hotel’s beachfront alfresco restaurant.  The emphasis is on classic cuisine with a Caribbean twist, and lots of fresh seafood. To keep things interesting the restaurant features a daily changing a la carte menu and live jazz and calypso.  Guests staying here half board can also opt to dine at some of the other fantastic restaurants nearby.

  • family

This is a family-run, family-friendly resort that welcomes children for most of the year - except from mid-January to the end of February when there are no under 12’s. During peak season, from mid-July to the end of August, Coral Reef runs a complimentary family programme for children aged two to 12. This includes three half hour sailing lessons and three half hour swimming lessons each week, and two hours of supervised care for children between two and eight years each day from Monday to Friday. Daytime and evening babysitting can also be arranged for an extra charge.

The hotel also offers a playground complete with swings, slide and a playhouse.  Younger guests can even enjoy an early room service dinner between 5:30 and 7pm. The chef can organise specially blended fresh purees for babies!

With advance warning young families can also take advantage of the hotel’s wide range of baby and toddler equipment. Put in an advance request and your room can be delivered of a crib, high chair, bed with sides, play pen, push chair, hot plate, bottle sterilizing tablets, children’s books, monitor, mosquito net and kettle.

Accommodation-wise, the resort has an array of different room, suite and villa options that can be configured in different ways to meet the individual needs of each family.  The most family friendly options are two Garden Rooms, one Superior Junior Suite and one Garden Room, two connecting Luxury Junior Suites or two Luxury Cottages.

Ground floor Luxury Cottages with a plunge pool, accommodating two adults and two children, are normally a hit with all ages. One of the resort’s private villas would work well for a multi-generational trip. Let's us know who's in your praty and we can discuss the various bespoke options.
