You’ll find some of the very best hotels and restaurants in the Caribbean on the west coast of Barbados, but its appeal is far wider than that. It offers a winning combination of the familiar and the unusual, with churches and village cricket greens, but with green monkeys and exotic birds thrown in! Central Barbados has rolling hills and verdant scenery.

Along Barbados' 60 miles of coast line you'll find some of the most stunning and varied beaches in the world. The west coast is dotted with sandy bays which are lapped by the calm and gentle waters of the Caribbean Sea whilst the rugged, wind swept, east coast is put to the test by wild Atlantic surf.  

The scenery in central Barbados is just as striking. On a drive through the interior you will pass acres of sugar plantations, pockets of lush tropical rainforest, as well as emerald green polo fields and golf courses.

The list of things to see and do in Barbados is a long one. Children will love a tour of the dramatic stalactites and stalagmites in Harrison's Caves, an underwater adventure on the Atlantis Submarine or seeing the monkeys and tortoises at feeding time at the Wildlife Reserve.  

Grown ups may prefer a visit to St Nicholas' Abbey, where they can tour the distillery and taste the plantations' artisanal rum, a stroll along the wild beach at Barclay's Park, or a meal and refreshing beer at the historic oceanfront inn Round House overlooking Bathsheba's dramatic soup bowl.

The list of restaurants we could recommend would be a very long one too. Some of our west coast favourites are Cin Cin, The Cliff, Daphne's, Lone Star and The Fish Pot.  Most hotels will be happy to make bookings and arrange excursions for you, or hire a car and explore the island yourself, it’s surprisingly easy!
