  • facilities & activities

Just walking the beach here is an experience.  On Saturdays guests can join the complimentary morning nature hike, a leisurely and informative trek by a local naturalist through the rainforest to Chesterman Beach. Other outdoor pursuits nearby include whale watching, black bear watching (in season), sea kayaking, fishing and birding.

Back at the hotel there’s the option to view the hotel’s inspiring local art collection or to take part in daily yoga classes at the fully equipped fitness centre overlooking the beach. The Ancient Cedars Spa has a vast treatment list and a wonderful couples room overlooking the ocean.

If you’re simply looking to kickback the Lookout Library is home to historic artifacts, a DVD library, business centre, and dramatic Chesterman Beach views. This space was designed for storm watching, with high-powered binoculars allowing guests to watch surfers braving winter storm waves while enjoying a glass of wine.  Storm watching here is such a wonderful experience it is now officially one of the Canadian Tourism Commission’s ‘Canadian Signature Experiences’.  Should you wish to brave the elements yourself full rain gear is provided in every room!

Guests can end their day on Chesterman Beach with a glass of wine, beer or cider on the Café’s beachfront patio, cosy up inside by the fireplace, or at the bar. The café’s evening menu focuses on lighter fare, offering tasty bites of fresh Tofino seafood and Vancouver Island seasonal produce - perfect for sharing.
