Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, Oman
MenuReached via winding mountain passes at 2,000m above sea level, as the highest 5* resort in the Middle East, Anantara Jabel Akhdar is more than worth the journey. Whilst the canyon views are spectacular and you could happily spend several days simply admiring the outlook, there's also plenty of opportunities for guests to explore the Al Hajar Mountains on foot and by bike. The food is top-notch and, if you're so inclined, every delectable meal can be enjoyed overlooking the renowned Diana’s Point - made famous by her visit in 1986. The main rooms offer fabulous balcony views, although those travelling with young children may appreciate the privacy and private pools of the villas. A gym, Spa, rim-flow pool, tennis court and children’s club complete the resort-feel of this mountain retreat, elevated both by its location and its luxury; a one-night stay is simply not enough.

facilities & activities
The resort takes full advantage of its stunning location. When you’ve explored the mountain scenery by foot or bike, you can head to the Spa for a hammam, jacuzzi, steam or rejuvenating treatment. For many guests a daily soak in the sublime rim-flow pool with its frankly jaw-dropping views goes without saying.
Fitness fans can head to the Fitness Centre or try a spot of tennis (NB tennis at altitude presents unique challenges) whilst children and teens are also well-catered for with dedicated clubs and areas to entertain them.
Of course, there are plenty of opportunities to sit back and relax; you can simply enjoy the outstanding outlook from one of the many seating areas or retreat to the library. Once you’ve enjoyed an unforgettable sunset, you can also admire the night sky from the Fort star-gazing platform, the end to a perfect day in the mountains.
