The 306 rooms are generously sized, with small sofas and coffee tables even in standard rooms. The coastal open-air feel extends to the bedrooms, which feature refreshing colour schemes of white, cream and brown. Open-plan marble bathrooms have dual sinks, walk-in rain showers and stand-alone bathtubs with Le Labo bath products. All villas, beach view suites and garden suites boast private plunge pools, while standard ocean-view rooms have their own balconies.

The hotel has its own beach, as well as two pools, an outdoor tennis court, 24-hour gym and the Atarmia Spa with nine treatment rooms and an outdoor 25-metre lap pool. There’s also a business centre, a limousine service and the hotel can organise airport transfers (at a supplement).
Available activities nearby include playing golf at the championship Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and joining an eco cruise through the mangroves, accompanied by a marine biologist who shares fascinating insights into the marine ecosystems of the Emirates (available on Saturdays, from AED 300/£60 per adult and AED 200/£40 per child aged six to 12). Further afield, guests can explore Abu Dhabi with its shops (Marina Mall is a 20-minute drive) and sights including Capital Gate and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Guests can choose from three restaurants and three lounges in resort. The all-day dining outlet, The Cafe, serves Middle Eastern fare in a contemporary setting with hanging lamps and leather chairs. Breakfast options include cooked-to-order eggs, fresh fruits and cold meats. The Park and Grill, the hotel’s signature steakhouse, is open for dinner and offers everything from oysters to beef steak and grilled prawns, with good service (three course set menu from AED 195/£40 per person. With a wonderful setting overlooking the sea, The Beach House serves homemade, Mediterranean fare for lunch and dinner. The best views are found at its rooftop bar - ideal for sundowners - while The Library and The Park Bar are more cosy spots. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

Childrens menus are available in both The Cafe and Beach House, and The Cafe serves an award-winning, family-friendly brunch on Fridays. Camp Hyatt is a dedicated children’s club for children aged five to 12. Open daily from 9.30am until 6.30pm, it is a complimentary service for hotel guests. Supervised indoor and outdoor activities include face painting, reading classes and exploring nature trails. The kids club also has soft toys for children aged four and under (babies must be supervised by an adult). Babysitting services are also available at a supplement.
Cribs and rollaway beds are available upon request and interconnecting rooms are available.Standard and Sea View rooms can accommodate up to two adults and one child (on a crib or rollaway bed). Suites offer more space, but still sleep up to three people. Far bigger and more luxurious, villas are a good choice for larger families. The two-bedroom Executive Villa sleeps up to five people, while the Royal Villa can accommodate up to seven guests and has its own outdoor terrace and private plunge pool.
