Tango Mar offers a selection of accommodation options to suit couples, families and those looking for group accommodation, perhaps travelling with extended family or friends. All rooms offer air-conditioning, hair-dryer, mini-fridge, coffee-maker, safe, telephone, satellite TV, WiFi, and a terrace or balcony.

Tropical Suites are set in clusters of 3, located above the main hotel on the hillside surrounded by tropical gardens. Each Suite is graced with a four-poster king-size bed and a jacuzzi. Enjoy watching the monkeys passing by from the large communal sun-deck!

Beachfront Rooms enjoy an unbeatable location right on the beach, so close to the ocean that in high-tide the surf touches the base of the building and the gentle sounds of the surf will lull you to sleep at night. Enjoy the lovely views from your private balcony. Deluxe Beachfront Rooms enjoy a peaceful setting in the most tranquil area of the hotel.

Garden Room (easy access) are large rooms which feature 2 queen-sized beds and hand-crafted furniture and are conveniently located near the social areas of the hotel. They are a good option for those with mobility issues or for families with younger children looking to share a room

Tiki Suites are wood cabanas elevated on stilts with partial ocean views. They feature a king-size bed and Jacuzzi.

There are also a choice of Villas sleeping up to 12 guests.

Tango Mar's virtually private beach has over a mile of sand for walking and sunbathing along with numerous walking trails from the hotel (look out for birds, reptiles, butterflies and howler monkeys!)

Enjoy a game of tennis on the illuminated courts or laze amid the beautiful surroundings of the spring-fed swimming pool set in a picture-perfect jungle garden of exotic plants and trees. There is also a 9-hole par 3 and 4 Executive Golf Course, perfect for tuning up the short game.

A wide range of tours can be arranged (payable locally) including wildlife and nature-based day trips to Curu Biological Reserve and Cabo Blanco Absolute Natural Reserve as well as Sunset Bird Watching on the Pochote Mangrove by boat. For those looking for a little exhilaration, there are mountain bikes for hire, ATV Tours, deep-sea and sport-fishing as well as an option to visit the Montezuma Canopy Ride Adventure.

Exhilarating snorkeling and scuba adventures are to be found among the reefs off nearby Tortuga Island, with their intriguing rock formations festooned with a myriad soft corals, sponges, anemones, featherdusters and dancing tropical fish. The Banana Express is a sunken steamboat with interesting aqua culture and lots of colorful fish! Intrepid divers thrill at deep water sightings of majestic manta rays, whales and bottlenose dolphin.

Tango Mar also has its own stables. You can ride into the jungle, across rivers and valleys, visiting local village communities and discovering hidden jungle waterfalls. Trails also include some of the best beach horseback riding.

A popular option for many is the Tango Mar Super Tour which combines a visit to Tortuga Island, Curu Nature Reserve and Pochote Mangrove estuary. For beach-lovers, the hotel can arrange a day of sight-seeing along the Nicoya coastline.

Breakfast and dinner are served at the informal Cristobal Restaurant, overlooking the ocean. Furnished with bamboo and fine local wood, there is a distinctive tropical feel.

Enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail at the Tango Bar, or on the ocean-side deck. For lunch and beach-side snacks the Rancho grill, El Pirata, serves drinks throughout the day as well as sandwiches, cocktails, salads and light meals.

The kitchen can cater to most special requests, be it a milestone birthday meal, jungle picnic, a cocktail party in your private villa or a beach barbecue by torchlight (a popular option!).

family

For children Tango Mar offers activities ranging from beach and pool fun, horse-riding, nature trails (and even a waterfall) as well as fascinating wildlife in the hotel grounds and plentiful, family-friendly tours and activities nearby.

Please always check the conditions before swimming in the sea as the tides can be strong.

location

Tango Mar is located on the Nicoya Peninsula on the North Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.

There are 3 ways to access the peninsula: from San Jose by car and ferry from Puntarenas to the southern port of Paquera or Naranjo (allow approx. 4-5 hours); by road from Liberia entering the peninsula from the north while crossing the gulf via the Tempisque bridge; or by daily scheduled flights from San Jose (flight time approx. 30 mins). As road travel can be bumpy and unpredictable we usually advise clients to use the convenient domestic flights instead. Tambor Airport is just 20 minutes drive from Tango Mar. We can arrange airport transfers for you or you can book via the hotel.
