Nature lovers are spoilt for choice here. You need not leave even the lodge for wildlife watching if you don’t want to - the gardens are packed with ferns, orchids and hydrangeas and home to everything from Emerald Toucanets to White-Faced Monkeys. There’s also a solar-heated pool in the grounds, hammocks and a yoga and meditation lookout point (yoga mats are available at reception). Foodies should book onto a local coffee and chocolate tour, while children will love learning about the residents of a nearby frog pond during a 45-minute night tour. Massage therapies are also available at the lodge from 10am-7pm, with treatments using products made from organic oils produced in the Costa Rican mountains.

Breakfast options include traditional rice and beans, pancakes and eggs benedict, while lunch ranges from red snapper tacos to burgers.
