Santiago & Central Chile, Chile
Set against the majestic back-drop of snow-capped Andean peaks, Chile’s modern metropolis has plenty to entertain you, whether it is world-class ski-ing, a vineyard tour or an increasingly impressive array of cultural offerings.

Diverse and cosmopolitan, although Santiago has firmly embraced all that is modern, it also oozes colonial charm with its abundance of historical buildings, plazas and pretty barrios such as the charming Bellavista. It has undergone something of a cultural renaissance in recent years, with new museums, music events and art galleries popping up all over the place. Worth a particular mention is the Chilean National Museum of Fine Arts, housed in a beautiful turn of the century house, which holds one of the finest collections in South America. The famous, atmospheric fish market in Santiago should also feature on your itinerary if seafood is your thing.
Don’t miss the view of Santiago from San Cristobal hill and for an authentic taste of Santiago life, head to vibrant Bellavista. During the day, enjoy lunch or a drink from one of the charming terraces, overlooked by quaint houses, or visit at night to sample some of the city's best nightlife.
Within easy reach are some lovely coastal towns including Vina del Mar with its precious gardens, and the historical port city of Valparaiso with its cable-drawn funicular.
Head inland for a day at the vineyards or if time permits, enjoy a relaxing stay at one of the characterful colonial haciendas or lodges in the foothills of the Andes, so you can properly explore the lush valleys and exclusive estates with their world-class wineries.
