  • rooms

The 23 rustic luxe cottages are scattered through the tropical grounds, all individually-designed with palm thatched roofs, whitewashed walls and hand-crafted furniture. Suites offer more space and comfort – the Spa Villa, Macal Cottage and Tree Top Villas feature added luxuries such as private Jacuzzis or infinity plunge pool and impressive garden views. For the ultimate luxury, book a Belize Ix Chel Villa, the newest accommodation type, which features an expansive veranda, private plunge pool, outdoor jacuzzi, al fresco shower and 180-degree views.

  • facilities & activities

You’re spoilt for choice for things to do at Chaa Creek. The resort boasts a hilltop spa with panoramic views of the Maya Mountains, an eco-friendly infinity pool (for both children and adults) and its own stables. Guided rides on horseback allow guests to explore the trails of the Chaa Creek Nature Reserve, passing sub-tropical forests and ancient Maya sites.

There is also a 33 acre organic farm and a vast nature reserve, plus a splendid butterfly exhibit, where you can see the "Belizean Blue" at every stage of its life cycle. Children and adults alike will be fascinated by the story of Belize through the ages at the Natural History Center, located just behind the cottages. You can even try your hand at woodworking with carpenters and craftsmen at the dedicated onsite shop.

  • dining

The resort’s restaurant, Mariposa Restaurant, is an al fresco affair where you can hear birds singing as you dine under the stars. Open from 6am until the last guest leaves at night, it offers a mixture of traditional and contemporary dishes, with some ingredients sourced from the resort’s own organic farm. Breakfast could be tropical fruits or fresh corn tortillas, lunch might be pizza or quesadillas, and dinner options include a four-course menu that incorporates fresh fish, salads and soups.

  • family

All suites and villas can fit an additional rollaway bed for children. The Cottage Collection can sleep up to three people, with a queen bed plus a rollaway bed. For more space, the Belize Orchard Villa and Belize Spa Villa sleep up to six guests in three bedrooms. The Belize Ix Chel Villas are ideal for larger families, with two king-sized suites plus two sofa beds in the sitting room.

Chaa Creek is a family-friendly resort. An Eco Kids Rainforest Adventure is available for families seeking an action-packed educational program, including canoe trips, horseback riding and night hikes. Babysitting and childminding services are also available.

Chaa Creek is an ideal base for exploring the Cayo District, located along the banks of the Macal River, in the foothill of the Maya Mountains. It’s a 15-minute drive from the vibrant town of San Ignacio, and is around a two-hour drive from the Belize International Airport.
