This lesser visited corner of North-western Argentina showcases spectacular scenery of Andean peaks, red-rock valleys and vineyards and in recent years the charming city of Salta, has slowly emerged on the tourist map. Founded in 1582 by the Spanish, expect colonial architecture, tree lined streets and plenty of culture- for a pleasant city stroll it’s hard to beat as it’s the perfect size for exploring on foot.
