facilities & activities
Located in North Patagonia, this lovely 500 acre lodge encompasses parts of the Nahuel Huapi National Park, 2 miles of lakeshore, pristine forests, creeks and waterfalls and 120 acres of valley and forest- allowing guests to undertake all kinds of activities without leaving the property. Guests staying on a full-board basis can choose from guided horse-riding, trekking, paddling in kayaks and boat rides which are all included.
There are plenty of bridle and walking trails (to suit all abilities) throughout the property grounds (that also link to the National Park trail network) and there are many opportunities for bird-watching. The lodge’s golden retrievers are always willing to play tour guide and show you around the various mountain trails. The border collies take care of the horses and accompany every ride. Lake options range from swimming on warm days – maybe as part of a horse ride – to paddling sea-kayaks and inflatable kayaks, combining hikes with a boat ride or fly fishing at the lake.
In winter there is Alpine and Nordic skiing, ski tickets, special guided tours, ski lessons and equipment rental as the estancia is located just 45 minutes from the main ski resort in South America – Mt Catedral – accessed through an extremely scenic drive around Lake Gutiérrez. Horse-riding continues and is particularly beautiful in the snow and the experience of paddling on the silent silver lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks is mesmerizing. The lodge can provide snowshoes but usually good waterproof trekking boots work as well.
Other popular options are the wine tasting evenings and cooking lessons available at the lodge for an extra charge.
Outside the Estancia, other activities can be arranged (chargeable), such as rafting and kayaking Río Manso, fly fishing Manso and Limay rivers, mountain biking, rock and ice climbing and many scenic excursions within the National Park and neighboring Parks as well.
Of particular mention is the horse-riding at Peuma Hue. Horses roam freely around the Lodge, and guests are thrilled not only to ride them but to pet, feed and share some time with them. The horses here are trained and cared for by the lodge’s very own horse whisperer, Chris Barrett, who has extensive knowledge of the many wonderful riding trails through Nahuel Huapi National Park and is renowned in the region for being one of the best and most safety-conscious trainers. The rides all begin at the lodge stables, where Chris and her team will select the best horse for each guest based on age, riding experience and confidence, kit you out (helmet and half chaps are provided) and provide briefing and instructions about the horses. With a maximum of 7 guests per group this is riding at its best in a stunning setting.

dining
Guests can choose to stay on a Full Board basis or just opt for Bed & Breakfast. We recommend you choose the full board option as not only does this include four meals per day (including wine) but it also allows you unlimited access to the lodge based activities.
The focus is very much on balanced, healthy and delicious meals, based on home-made products, using produce from the organic vegetable garden and fruit orchard.
As part of the full board plan, buffet breakfast, lunch, cocktail with appetizers, dinner and an afternoon snack are provided. There is a fixed menu, and dietary restrictions and personal wishes can be accommodated, with advance notice. The highly trained chefs prepare freshly made Patagonian-style meals accompanied by top-rated wines and microbrew beers.

family
The lodge is a perfect base for families. Younger children will love the animals, orchards and wide open spaces and there are endless activities for all ages, including lead-rein horse-rides for younger visitors not quite ready to saddle up on their own. The lodge staff (and animals!) are happy to accompany older children on activities if parents want to do something different - there really is so much flexibility.
Many of the rooms can accommodate an extra bed and there are lots of options for families, including self-contained cottages.
