South Island, New Zealand
Home to the most incredible natural terrain, the South Island offers a wealth of diverse attractions; skiing and glacier hiking in the Southern Alps, ziplining in Queenstown, kayaking in the dramatic and beautiful Fiordland, wine tasting in Marlborough, art galleries in Christchurch, a penguin colony on Otago Peninsula, the golden sands of Kaiteriteri Beach – there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

Kaikoura, on the rugged East coast, is renowned for its diverse marine wildlife including the mighty sperm whales drawn to the continental shelf close by. The opportunity to swim with the resident Dusky dolphins, known for their acrobatic leaps and interactive behaviour, is often a highlight on an adventure. Deep within Fiordland National Park on the South West of the island lies Milford Sound, a pristine scenic destination thought to have been discovered by the Maori more than 1,000 years ago and revered for its pounamu (or jade). It is a firm favourite on many an itinerary; the iconic Mitre Peak is an impressive sight to behold from your kayak or cruise boat!
More central to the island, Lake Tekapo, a remarkable blue caused by 'rock flour' from the glaciers, becomes an aquatic playground in Summer whilst a short drive away is the Aoraki Mount Cook, New Zealands' highest peak, offering glorious mountain treks and 4 WD safaris. It's also no wonder Queenstown has a worldwide adventure reputation considering the huge range of activities on offer. Surrounded by majestic mountains and set on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, the natural beauty creates the perfect backdrop for a holiday full of exploration. Cycling, zip lining, the famed shotover jet, luging, canoeing, rafting...even bungy jumping, it's all here!
