Sails in the Desert offer three accommodation options. Deluxe suites are very spacious and can accommodate up to three people. They feature a separate living area, bedroom with a king size bed, WiFi, LCD HD TV, and multiple balconies with great views of the gardens. The luxurious features, including a spa bath, are complimented by local indigenous artwork and artifacts.

The décor of the Terrace Rooms reflect the very real presence of the living cultural landscape in every facet of this luxurious room and feature an en suite bathroom, WiFi, LCD HD TV alongside a lavish day bed on the terrace inviting you to relax. Terrace Rooms come with either one or two king size beds.

With the same great features as the Terrace Room, the natural tones of the Superior Room are complemented by indigenous artwork, artifacts and decorative pieces. Superior Rooms all come with either a balcony, terrace or veranda and a king size bed, with some able to connect to an additional Superior with 2 x queen size beds.

The interior of Sails in the Desert is beautifully furnished in a contemporary style and it’s clear that the area’s Aboriginal heritage has inspired its design; there are some striking Aboriginal artworks throughout the public areas and guest rooms. Located in the lobby at the heart of the hotel is the Mulgara Gallery where you can browse for didgeridoos, opal jewellery and other Australian indigenous artworks.

If you need to cool off from the heat of the desert sun, there is an expansive outdoor pool, or you could indulge yourself in some delicious relaxation at the Red Ochre Spa which offers a superb range of health and beauty treatments. If you’re looking for something a little more active, the hotel also boasts a tennis court.

Sails in the Desert is the flagship property of the Ayers Rock Resort complex, so you have the advantage of being able to use the facilities and restaurants of all five hotels. Guests can be enticed into a total of four swimming pools, a resort shopping centre, two tennis courts, a hair and beauty salon, and a Tour Desk that offer information on the surrounding area and are very happy to help you plan your stay.

Being in the centre of Australia’s ancestral land with its rich culture, history and natural beauty, there are a plethora of tours and experiences on offer in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park; whether it’s watching the sunset and sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock) from one of the resort’s amazing viewpoints, admiring the magnificent rock formations of Uluru and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), or touring the southern night sky with a resident starstalker, these are experiences that you will always treasure.

From relaxed dining under a desert sky, to grilling a barramundi steak on the BBQ, you can choose from 15 great dining experiences within the Ayers Rock Resort. There is a huge variety of cuisine on offer, ranging from buffets, and outback tucker to brasserie-style specialties and a la carte menus.

The Ilkari Restaurant at Sails in The Desert serves a buffet-style breakfast whilst also offering a tantalizing menu for dinner with signature dishes enlivened by indigenous flavours. For a casual lunch or dinner, pre-dinner drinks or night cap there is the Walpa Lobby Bar and for a sun-kissed poolside dining experience, guests can treat themselves to a relaxed holiday cocktail and light meal at the Pira Pool Bar.

A ‘must do’ dining experience is the Sounds of Silence, an all-inclusive event where you can watch the sun set over Uluru (Ayers Rock), before dining under a canopy of desert sky whilst your very own storyteller shares tales as told in the stars. A very special event.

Sails in the Desert welcomes families, and most activities and tours are suitable for children of five and over. A wonderful experience for young travellers, they will have the opportunity to learn the dreamtime stories as told in the stars, see the sun set over Uluru (Ayers Rock), have breakfast in the middle of the desert, take part in a Dot Painting Aboriginal Art Workshop and walk through the Valley of the Winds.

As well as the unique tours, kids will love the children’s playground at the hotel, and of course, the swimming pools on offer. A children’s menu is available at the Sails in the Desert restaurant and kids can dine at most of the restaurants, cafes and bars within the Ayers Rock Resort. Babysitting is also available.

Interconnecting Superior Rooms come with 1 x king bed and 2 x queen size beds and are ideal for families, and many of the bedrooms at Sails in the Desert can be configured for larger parties.

Ayers Rock Airport is less than 15 minutes drive from the resort. Complimentary return coach transfers from Ayers Rock Airport to the Ayers Rock Resort meet every scheduled flight.
