Setting
  • rooms

The Last House is really more of a villa than a hotel with just 6 rooms, making it perfect for an intimate sole-use booking for a larger family or group. If you do book the whole house, you have available all the rooms listed below plus one additional small twin-bedroom attached to the Cinnamon Hill Suite which is better suited to younger children.

All rooms have a king-size bed with mosquito net and ceiling fan, and can accommodate an extra bed if needed.

The Cinnamon Hill Suite is a spacious upper-floor suite, comprising one large en-suite double bedroom overlooking the sea and garden. With a balcony area at the side and front of the room also overlooking the beach, there is plenty of opportunity to relax and soak up the setting, perhaps over a private meal, which the staff are happy to arrange. There is also an en-suite twin-bedroom. Connecting to and sharing the bathroom is a further small twin-bedroom (without views to the sea) available if required. It works perfectly for larger families or those looking for more room.

Moonamal is on the ground floor and separate from the main house, this large double bedroom overlooks the sea, with doors opening onto the front and rear gardens. The en-suite bathroom with WC, shower and basin offers access to an outdoor courtyard with separate double-bath and shower area.

Atteriya is also on the ground floor and separate from the main house, this large en-suite double bedroom overlooks the sea, with doors opening onto the front and rear gardens.

Finall Na, is on the ground floor, to the rear of the property and separate from the main house, this large en-suite double bedroom enjoys fabulous multi-sided views - inland to a small lagoon and to the beach and sea. The en-suite bathroom offers a shower rather than bath.

  • facilities & activities

The rooms offer ceiling fans and direct access to the beach. Feeling active, then surf and body boards are available to borrow as well as beach sports equipment. There is also a small boat for hire if you'd like to set off further afield.

Whilst there is no spa on site, the hotel are happy to arrange for a masseuse/beauty therapist to visit you in your rooms should a massage or other treatment appeal.

  • dining

Breakfast (included in your room rate) will typically include seasonal fruit juices, eggs cooked to order, pancakes, muesli, cereals and more robust Sri Lankan specialties to start the day - all accompanied by a selection of Sri Lanka’s renowned teas, or coffee.

Lunch incorporate a variety of salads using local lobster, prawns and tuna, or opt for a mixed tempura, mezze or seafood risotto to give you a flavour of what is on offer.

Dinner might start with crab salad accompanied by a spicy coconut sauce or lemongrass and lime-leaf flavoured seafood soup. Mains typically feature fresh, locally-caught fish and subtely blended house meat or vegetable-based curries.

Please note that The Last House does not have a licence to sell alcoho, but you are welcome to bring your own. We suggest purchasing duty-free en-route or buy in Colombo. Failing that, the staff will be more than happy to purhase on your behalf in Tangalla. but choice there is limited to local spirits and beer. The bat staff are very good at creating some fantastic cocktails!
