The Fort Bazaar, South Coast
MenuThe Fort Bazaar is a handsome merchant’s home-turned-boutique hotel with 18 stylish guestrooms. Fresh and contemporary, its chic, understated interiors feel distinctly Middle Eastern, as does its fabulous cuisine, both of which richly reflect the fort’s Moorish history. Positioned on Church Street within the UNESCO-listed 17th century fort, this hotel makes a very welcoming retreat from the bustling cobbled streets of the beguiling Galle Fort.

facilities & activities
Galle, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is a destination in its own right. Stroll the atmospheric cobbled streets within the Fort and discover historic buildings filled with little boutiques, cafes and gelaterias.
Galle’s tropical beaches offer quiet, sunny charm, and surfing hotspots include Devata, Midigama and Weligama, while blue whale watching cruises embark from Mirissa’s vibrant local harbour. Peddle through Galle’s verdant paddy- and coconut palm-dominated surroundings on a guided bicycle tour or absorb yourself completely in a jungle yoga class. Close to Koggala Lake is a lowland tea plantation, which offers fascinating estate tours.
Escape Galle’s hustle and bustle at the hotel’s indulgent Z Spa. The spa has three air-conditioned single treatment rooms quietly tucked taway at the back of the hotel, two of which have steam showers in their bathrooms.
Please note: at present, the swimming pool isn’t open (but free access is provided to the pool of a nearby hotel, 10 minutes away along with complimentary transfers by tuk tuk).

The menus include tapas - perfect for savouring dishes sociably amongst friends, and rustic family-style sharing platters of quality imported cold meats, cheese, homemade pickles, pâtés and dips. Asian fusion flavours used for fresh fish and modern versions of Sri Lanka’s traditional cuisine also feature highly, including black pork curry and lagoon crab salad.
