facilities & activities
Beautifully positioned right on the pristine beach, Uga Bay is the perfect choice for those who want to soak up the sun. The bay is protected by a wide coral reef and its calm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Further out is great for windsurfing and kayaking or if you fancy exploring the wrecks underwater, diving is readily available. There are watersports galore or you can just enjoy the huge sparkling infinity pool which appears to waterfall into the ocean. Choose a refreshing cocktail and flop onto one of the many sun loungers so you can soak up the fabulous views. For some proper pampering, unique spa is a must. Built underground with views of the sea, it offers a huge range of treatments which will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
The east coast is still quiet and relatively untouched and the stunning coastline sits against a backdrop of peaceful lagoons. Borrow a hotel bicycle and explore the markets and colourful local villages with their faded colonial charm or take one of the guided excursions to the numerous cultural and historic sites nearby. The National Parks of Lahugala and Yala are also a short distance away and teeming with leopard, elephant and aquatic wildlife. The staff will organise a tailor made itinerary to suit all ages and will pack up a delicious picnic to take with you.

dining
The seafront location means the freshest of seafood is delivered daily from the local fishermen. Although western in style, the menu is inspired by traditional east coast Sri Lankan and Asian fare. Locally sourced ingredients are fresh and organic, and the bread is freshly baked daily. Savour every mouthful and enjoy the extraordinary views over the pool and out over the ocean. Alternatively the staff will happily set a table up for you somewhere else, whether that be tucked into a poolside cabana, beach-side under the shade of a palm tree or on your own private terrace under the stars.

family
The resort is a lovely choice for a family stay. At its best during the summer months (perfect for those long school holidays), it is also very child-friendly. Children will love the huge pool, the beach is safe with calm, warm waters which are shallow for quite some distance out. There are plenty of watersports to keep older ones entertained and there are complimentary but supervised activities should you prefer more formal childcare.
The hotel prides itself on its flexible approach to dining - great for families with little ones who don't want to stick to a set meal time. The chef is also happy to cater for small or fussy appetites.
Interconnecting rooms are available along with free cribs and extra roll-away beds which can be ordered for an additional small fee. The Bay Suite offers plenty of space with a separate living area, two bedrooms and a private plunge pool or for the ultimate indulgence stay at the opulent Beach Villa set right by the sea.
