MenuHorathapola lies hidden in the beautifully lush landscapes of rural Sri Lanka. Its grand plantation bungalow dates from the early 1900 and has been beautifully restored by the Fernando family to host spacious luxury guestrooms. It is a fully functioning organic coconut estate of roughly 50 acres and sustains the livelihoods of about 30 families living in the neighbouring village. With four bedrooms and 2 separate lodges, the estate is the perfect place to unwind in comfort at the start or end of your holiday.

rooms
All rooms have large ceiling fans as well as air-conditioning.
The Maha Camare double room is a favourite with honeymooners, with its beautiful carved Indian four poster king-sized bed. Located on the upper floor it features its own large balcony overlooking the garden and pool - the perfect spot for a romantic candle lit dinner.
The Watte Camare is located on the ground floor and has an ebony king-sized bed and a large single brass bed. This room opens out to a large verandah leading to the beautiful gardens of Horathapola…perfect if you crave solitude.
The Pokuna Camare double room is a separate unit set in the gardens and is designed in a more contemporary style with a large verandah which looks out over the gorgeous pool and gardens beyond.

Guests love the 50ft eco-friendly salt water pool surrounded by a beautiful lawn and shady trees. After you've refreshed in the pool, why not enjoy a bullock-cart ride around the fifty acre estate to get a proper feel for the property? Or, if you want to explore further afield, bikes are available to borrow or the hotel can arrange day trips down to the beach if it's the feel of sand between your toes that appeals!

It's all about personal service here - there are no set menus or meal times, instead each meal is discussed and selected in advance with the chef. Dine where you like – under a shady tree, on your private verandah or in the dining room. All tastes and diets are catered for, from European dishes such as pasta, to the traditional multiple Sri Lankan curry.

The Family Suite located on the upper floor comprises a double and triple room. The Suite is ideal for a family with up to 3 children. Alternatively it works perfectly for two couples travelling together. The rooms are next to each other but are not inter-connected, offering you privacy. The two rooms share a very large common veranda.
The Family Lodge is a separate unit located a 2 minute stroll through the gardens, offering plenty of seclusion. It has 2 double bedrooms, so works well for a family of four, or two couples travelling together. It has its own roof terrace - perfect for a sundowner whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings around you.
