  • facilities & activities

This luxury tented camp is dominated by the soothing flow of the Zambezi just beyond the tents and it is very much the focus for activities. On offer are river cruises, tiger fishing and canoeing, as well as tours of the falls. You can also join a game-drive or game-walk in the reserve, but it’s worth bearing in mind that wildlife-sightings are fairly scarce here. The camp is part of Imvelo Safaris Lodges which does tremendous work developing schools, clinics and domestic water supplies so a stay at Zambezi Sands benefits local communities as well as wildlife conservation projects.

The main lodge is a vast canvas on stilts and houses the dining area as well as a relaxing lounge with leather sofas and bar. Spa treatments are offered at an extra charge. Please note that Wi-Fi is only available in the main area.

  • dining

Expect to dine in style al-fresco, either riverside, or on the expansive deck has dining tables and a sunken fire pit, which is ideal for pre-dinner drinks. The breakfast buffet is a sight to behold and hot food such as omelettes, full English and pancakes will fill you up ready for the day ahead. Lunch is usually a simple, tasty affair and after an afternoon spent exploring guests love the sundowner canapés that are rolled out, accompanied by cocktails, South African wines and Zambezi beers. Just make sure you leave enough room for dinner which is guaranteed to be delicious.

  • family

Minimum age for children here is 7 years, however we feel it might be better suited to families with slightly older children. Up to two children can share a suite with one adult, or one child can share a suite with two adults. Families of four may need to split with one parent sharing with each child. Tents three and four have an interconnecting walkway so they are suitable for families.
